How to Install Bogen Head

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I have a Bogen 3011 tripod with a 3126 head on it. I recently purchased a 3026 medium ballhead and I cannot figure out how to remove the 3126 and attach the 3026 ballhead. The ballhead came with absolutely no instructions and I'm stuck as to what to do. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Ryan,

My Manfrotto (Bogen) tripod has a small screw accessible from under the legset's own head which prevents the separate pan/tilt or ball heads from rotating free. Look under there, loosen the screw and rotate the head off. After putting on the new head, tighted the screw.

Some of the tripods have three screws. You may need to extend the central column (if that tripod has one) to access the screws.

I think your correct Alan. Its been a while since I did mine. The head has a "bumpy" surface that the screws lock into to prevent it from turning. Saves accidents, and damage to the tripod screw from overtightening.

Thanks for the help guys! I had a little trouble unthreading the head from the center column at first, but some teflon lubricant did the trick. I appreciate your help.
