What a contrast between two disasters. One has 179 souls, the other has 88, one has no media coverage, the other full coverage, one has no means of recovery, the other has full recovery. No wonder the world hates the USA

It's OK. We hate 'em back.

sure. we finance half the world and they hate us. sort of like a codependent kid that hates his parents who finance him.

africa operates differently than we do. they have less resources. they are torn by political strife which eats away at their productivity. not that i don't have sympathy--i sure do but are we not entitled to take care of our own country with our own resources paid for with our own tax dollars? i would think so. i don't buy into the global thinking that we are bad people because we work and earn and use our resources. plus we use our resources to fund the rest of the world because their corrupt governments are stealing the people blind or decimating their people or resources fighting all those politically or racially motivated wars.

tt...the truth is actually not that simple. 1st of all, the governments who agree to US aid are at the economic mercy of the lender. Take for example the IMF aka the International Monetary Fund, which requires the debtor country to hand over all it's gold in exchange for the supposed stabilization of it's currency. Loans are to be collateralized by the country's national resources.

A south african country who mines gold as a national resource and source of income could be paying out up to 98% of its income to repay the loan.

The pillaging of local treasures from the people by those in power go on whether or not we give them money. Nothing changes when it comes to greed and corruption, except that the countries who accept these loans pretty much come under the economic thumb of U.S. control, centralizing their banking system, including the implementation of non-loan related policies such as reduction of the population through aggressive birth control, modifying international investment and labor practices designed to maximize foreign corporate takeover of local industry, etc, etc, thereby monopolizing future national wealth production into the hands of foreigners... This is only a few examples of how the US makes slaves out of small and vulnerable sovereign nations.

Now, perhaps you can see why we are internationally villified, and rightfully so.

"...This is only a few examples of how the US makes slaves out of small and vulnerable sovereign nations..."

Yep. So let's do 3 things:

1. Forgive all those debts. 2. Resolve NEVER AGAIN to lend another dime to any foreign country. 3. Follow through.

Problem solved, what...? ;->

Maybe we're missing something here. After 1 (One) death you reach entropy. It won't make any difference to the survivors of 1,3,80,220,5000 or 6000000. The ones left behind hurt for the 1 (one) they knew.

I find it interesting that the USA is so hated that people will risk drowning at sea or dieing of thirst while crossing the desert & Rio Grande River, and not only do they risk their lives but are willing to risk the lives of their children also, to be able to come to this terrible country! Besides, the USA is just another extention of the UN now, just like all the other countries in the world, that is why we have NAFTA, Border XXI, and all these darn EPA policies which steal land for the UN World Heritage Centers (check out what is happening in NM and AZ. If you don't think I've got it right, then check into what happened to Mike New when he refused to wear a UN insignia on his Army uniform. If you hate America so much....then leave...just our money and our technologies here.

I don't think anyone here *hates* america, we hate the elitists and the multinational corporate entities that influence others to the detriment of this country and it's original principles.

These bastards are the ones that are hell bent on using the US might to instigate a one world government dragging the rest of us along for the ride/slide into slavery.

I know this world could be a better place with a one world government, but not with these slime balls at the helm, whose greed and lust for power know no end.

National sovereignty along with morals, principles, integrity and honesty will get the job done just fine, thank you. Now, if we could just make it happen.
