Insurance Agency Glitch Cancels Policy (Maryland)

One of those little nagging Y2K problems:

My insurer called to ask if we really meant to drop our worker's comp policy. When we called back to say no, we were told that it was a Y2K problem. As part of their remediation they changed the policy numbering and it resulted in lots of similar policy problems. They are now calling people to explain and manually fixing things. Not sure if my coverage ever lapsed but seemed to be a big headache for the admin that was dealing with it.
