Pet Store selling "Maine Coon" kittens

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

There is a locate pet store that currently has 2 kittens that they are saying are MC's. I thought that I read somewhere that for a cat to be known as a MC that it must be a purebred. I also was wondering, would a respectable breader of MC ever sell their kittens to a petshop? The kittens are in clean display cages and I have not heard of any problems with this shop and they do state the birthdate of the kitten's. The kittens are minimum 12 weeks of age.

hello, in response to your questions...i have been breeding mainecoons for 10 years now and i have sold to a few pet stores..they have been very respectable ones and took very good care of the kittens. petshops are USDA regulated so must be inspected and found to be in compliance with the law. If you ask them, im sure they would show you the blue slip that comes with the kittens..this should have the breeders info on it and all the info on the kitten...hope this helps....
