What was so wicked about Toby if he was flogged from left to right that supposedly knocked the evilness into a person as opposed to knocking it out if it was from right to lef

You've met the kid who beats up his fellow kindergarteners or who pulls the cat's whiskers out for fun. I think Toby was one of those kids, just rowdy from the start. Poe says Toby's mom firmly believed in spanking, and she evidently spanked him a lot. But, like Poe said, the problem with the spanking was that Toby's mother was left handed. She didn't have any choice but to spank him with her left hand. Poe says that's one of the reasons Toby was so bad.....because beating him with her left hand pushed the evil into the boy!
