Epidemic? Viral, Bacterial, or Enviornmental?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Over the past two months, a lot of the people in our neighborhood are having a lot of odd health problems: i.e., funny heart beats and wierd EKG's, flu like health problems, aches and pains, significant increases in arthritus, unusual and unexplained blood work results, and a lot of fatigue. Some of the people are being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Almost every house in our neighborhood has someone who is affected. The people are all ages, and both male and female. Two of our local hospitals do not have available beds because of flu like illnesses. At work I deal with people who are applying for disability benefits, and more than half are diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue and/or Fibromyalgia. It seems to be almost an epidemic. We are in Central Iowa. I have checked web sites at CDC and any other place I can think of, and have not found any indication that there is anything going on in this area. Is anyone aware of anything like this going on anywhere else in the country? Don't want to over react to this, but the number of people getting sick, is pretty significant in this area. Thanks for any input.

SOme people believe it is due to intentional biowarfare countermeasure testing or even a "culling of the herd." Horrors.

(You'll find many more stories about chemtrails on the sightings site. It is an "x-files" site, so take it with a grain of salt. But it is right-on for many topics. Must visit.)

Sorry about your illness and the problems your community faces. Some people report good results with colloidal silver (not silver salts).

Cool slide show C.

Was it Andy that had that Hopi profecy about the webs in the sky just before the great purification? Guess we need colloidal silver in the city water now, heh.

---suzy, have your neighborhood water tested. Extreme localized immuno deficiency diseases have an environmental cause, usually. Are there chem plants local? How about a particular big giganto agri biz "farm" using that term loosely. Large fuel storage tank farm. who knows what's in your area, or where you get your water from. And when getting water tested, be aware that they have to know what to look for to test, as there are thousands of things to look for. MTBE in the aquifers is now a huge problem, and poisoning by MTBE has reported symptoms like you describe. Also, do a survey of your neighborhoods affected victims, look to see if they were heavy drinkers of diet soda products, or anything else with aspartame or artificial sweeteners. Lot of info on the web about that, too.

Of course, I'm also a conspiracy theorist, and i agree on the possible chemtrail or bio war "testing" angle, too. It's hard to swallow, but out own government has for decades been "testing" various chemicals and biologicals on it's own citizens without notice or permission. Once you start looking into this, it will make you more angry than anything else the gov has even thought about doing. We're talking nazi stuff here, with willing cooperation of a lot of dot mil and dot civ agencies, and large industries. They buy these sprays and biologicals someplace. It's spooky, but first I'd recommend the water testing. doesn't matter if you have piped in city water or a well, it's the #1 place I would look first. good luck, and investigate alternative therapies as well. here's one I recommend, Dr. Lorraine Day. Again, good luck, and please report back about any findings you may get.

Suzy: Zog mentioned gasoline additives. I would add atrazine residues, carbamates and organophosphates. All are common in agriculture regions. Unusual heavy metals are possible too. Get a water filter for awhile. Are there any wood products manufacturers nearby? They may be releasing VOCs such as formaldehyde. Winter temperature inversion layers sometimes trap pollutants close to the ground. Chemtrails are bull. If you waste time chasing ghost, the real problems will kill you in the mean time. Was most of the houses in your neighborhood built by one company? Out gassing by materials common to all homes a possible. Is your neighborhood built on landfill? Good luck.

Check out and research BRUCELLOSIS - you'll be surprised, and not pleasantly.

-- turkeylurkey (lurker@lurker.com), January 31, 2000.

Suzy,

I agree with Zog about having the water tested. Is it "well water" or "city water"? Well water tends to be acidic, while most city water tends to be high alkaline. The ph levels of the water can indicate different manifestations. I recommnend having the Dept. of Health do the testing, rather than a commercial "free" test. It is a good idea to have well water tested regularly since it can be more prone to bacterial problems from rodents, etc.

How old are the houses? Older plumbing can utilize lead solder, and if the water is acidic, this can errode the solder and leech into the water.

Another thought would be to visit the EPA web site. There you will find a way to punch in your zip code and pull up chemical/pollution, etc. violations in your area.

Here is the address: http://www.epa.gov/enviro/zipcode.html

Best wishes, ~Dee

Suzy,

Same type of problems here in So. Calif. Everyone is complaining of something, flu, aching, lethargy, and the list goes on. Even children. This is from people who seldom have anything, and don't run around complaing about anything. What is Fibromyalgia? Aching joints? That seems to be the most common complaint out here. The joints seem to be more muscular than bone. Never a day here for months that there aren't the trails in the sky.

Suzy, People's immune systems in general are low due to all the stresses you mention. The environment is under attack, the nutritional value in food has been degraded, and germs are afloat. Not to mention that people's lives are generally hard not allowing them enough rest, etc. They drink soda instead of water and don't exercise...it's winter.

Could your body perhaps be recovering from a bout of the flu? It sometimes takes a while to completely recover.

-- cin (cinlooo@aol.com), January 31, 2000.

The information is overwhelming! According to the EPA, our drinking water (which comes from the Des Moines River, Raccoon River, Red Rock Lake) is highly conpromised. The rivers are VERY low here and you could wade accross them without getting your ankles wet. The EPA indicates we have high air pollution, and CDC indicates we are in a high flu outbreak area. Even though we are in a metro city, the rivers north of here take farm and hog confinement run off and could be contaminated with just about anything. Most of the people in our neighborhood have private water purification, in addition to the city water supply. The people in our neighborhood, are not whiners or complainers, and it is curious that such a wide variety of people are all coming down with about the same thing at about the same time. The contacts I have indicate that it is widespread throughout Iowa, as a whole, and not only our neighborhood. We just don't know if its from one source or many, and will have a lot of research to do. As for contrails or spraying, don't know that any of us have noticed this, but we weren't looking for it either. If it is occurring in other parts of the country, I would wonder if it would be other than something regional. Am reading all of the web sites each of you have been kind enough to provide, and trying to gain more insight. And then, I am not sure what we can do about it.

Hi Suzy,

Get a British Berkfeld Water Filter, it's expensive, but one of the best. Or, at least, try boiling your water before you drink it. This sounds almost like chemical poisoning of some type. Get well and take care.

Here's a link I found about brucellosis - scary!! It DOES sound alot like the symptoms people are reporting - remember the report not too long ago about the killing of buffalo around Yellowstone to keep the disease from spreading to the rancher's cattle? ...hmmmm! http://www.healthanswers.com/centers/body/overview.asp? id=immune+system&filename=000597.htm
