y2k bites my bank account at Nations Bank

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Ok, this really happened to me. We normally download our monthly statement from the NationsBank web site in order to save time. The last time we downloaded it was in October. My wife's father died at the end of October and we have gotten back to working on our Quicken bank statement until yesterday (we kept manual's entries in our bank register). I opened Quicken yesterday and began looking through October's figures. I noticed correct dates in Sept. such as 09/15/99. After September 17th however, I noticed that all of the dates were 09/21/19, 10/01/19, etc.

I clicked on one of the dates and it came up, 10/01/2019! The whole month was like that! So... I went through the whole month and changed everthing back to 1999.

We then went to the Nations bank web site to download November and December. After several unsuccessful trys, we came to an error page that told us that the Nations Bank web site was temporarily unable to allow us to download our information due to possible y2k problems!

This after months of propagando by Nations Bank that they are y2k "ready."

makes me nervous.

Have you checked for an update to your software? I remember hearing about a known Quicken online banking problem that was fixed. Can you access the same account via a web site.

As far as Y2K propaganda goes, you're right on. The flood waters are rising enough to be noticeable now.

Thanks Ceemaster, I'll check into that.

Ahh, who really needs their statements, anyway?

I use PC Banking with NationsBank, and am very relieved to report that there have been no problems.

The PC banking product uses "MAnaging Your Money", not quicken.

The bill paying feature has been working just fine also.
