FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TAXPAYERS BLAST WARNER 'SURRENDER' TO RED CHINESE

The Virginia Taxpayers Association today charged that Sen. John Warner, Senate Armed Services Committee chairman, "signaled congressional military surrender to Red China by quietly acquiescing in three-day red-carpet treatment given last week by the Pentagon to China's top spymaster, who reportedly had previously fled the U. S. to avoid being served by a congressional subpoena."

Lt. Gen. Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of staff and intelligence director of the People's Liberation Army, was hosted on separate days by Defense Secretary William Cohen, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Hugh Shelton and CIA Director George Tenet "as further penance by the Clinton administration for accidentally bombing the Chinese embassy in Belgrade last May and as a subservient request to please resume 'normal' talks with the U. S.," the VTA said.

During the talks Xiong was given a full briefing on U. S. plans to develop a national missile defense, according to a CNN report, "and doubtless received other significant new military information from U. S. officials which Chinese spies had not yet stolen or had had openly handed to them by traitorous Clinton lackeys or defense contractors," the VTA said.

"Normally, on questions of resuming relations between two countries, all preliminary talks are conducted by diplomatic officials and not by those in charge of espionage," the taxpayers association said. "Does anyone believe that in his three-day visit our Pentagon people received any genuine hard facts on Chinese military strengths or intentions from Xiong? Of course he was delighted to gauge U. S. attitudes and strengths from our top leaders at first hand."

A staff spokesman for Sen. Fred Thompson's (R.-Tenn.) Governmental Affairs Committee told VTA "we have no information" on whether a committee subpoena had ever been issued for a Xiong congressional appearance, but did not deny that such was the case.

The VTA last October scored Warner for "rigging" Armed Services Committee hearings on Chinese takeover of the Panama Canal to deny oral testimony from former Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Thomas Moorer and other top U. S. experts opposing Red China's acquisition of both canal ports. "Warner as top military leader in Congress, in the opposing political party, has no obligation to support Clinton's dangerous foreign policy," the VTA said. (END)

Remember that rumor that the bombing of the embassy was because the wreckage of that downed Stealth from the MidEast was being stored there, and the Chinese refused to return it? Did anyone ever find any documentation to back that up? Just wondering.
