As part of the SASOL program of oil-from-coal, the government has decided to cut a subsidy that the company has received over the last 10 yrs. The technology is the most sophisticated in the world and supplies about 40% of SA's needs. It came into being as a result of US sponsored sanctions against apartheid many years ago.
