VideoPack 4 Problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have a mpg file thats 600 meg. When I make the VCD using VideoPack 4, the resulting dat file in the mpegav dir is only 200 megs. When I start the burn, it already said that the image was already 70% done. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Verified the mpg file using ifiledit and the file looks good. It is vcd 2.0 compliant

Burned the same mpg file in Easy CD Video Creator and it was successful.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sometime, our MPG files contains some error. Based on my experiences with VideoPack, I found 3 category of error :

1. VideoPack give "Invalid Packet Error". Be careful with this error, usualy this error will increase the size of DAT file resulted from that process. If you decide to "ignore" that error, watch the speed change of status bar. If the speed same with the speed before error, no problem. If the speed going slow, the DAT file will be explode !!!! Use VCD cutter to see the file and cut the bad part.

2. VideoPack give no error, but the DAT size much smaller. Usually the result can be played well, but you loose the part of your movie, from the error to the end.

3. VideoPack give an "Windows Error" an Exit (no options).

TIPS : 1. Try to create the RAW file before you burn ! 2. Compare the size of RAW file with the original MPG file. 3. The good result will produce the the same size (roughly) RAW file compare to the MPG file.
