Need recommendations:CD-RW (USB)for Macintosh

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Between my iMac, iBook, Sony Mavica, Imation Super Drive/disk - I need even MORE storage for my newly formed small digital photo business. I would appreciate any input at all about available CD-RWs w/ USB connection that works w/ Macintosh. Sony Supressa? LaCie? Que?

Thanks so very much!

Don't spend money on a fast CD-RW the USB connection is slow. A friend bought one for his G3 and it could not right at 4X.

Maybe it's a problem only for Mac's, but I use a USB CD-RW drive on my Windows based systems that works beautifully at 4X. I love the USB interface.

Go with the Lacie. The Toast software it ships with is the best. Just be aware that Adaptec has not yet updated Toast to work with OS9. Luckily for me I have an extra internal drive in my G3. And anyone who cannot get a USB drive writing at 4x is doing something wrong. I'd need more information to know what, but this should be a no-brainer.
