Canon Autofocus adjustment?

Is there a way to clean or check The autofocus system on canon eos's

My prob is with a canon rebel first model i have 2 and also have a eos 55 with my 100-300mm lens my rebel wont focus lock or autofocus at all with the 35-70mm its fine i dont have this prob with my other 2 bodies and i dont have a canon repair center around... or at least a backed canon center

what can i do short of sending it to canon and what should i expect to pay?

There's nothing you can really adjust or check yourself. The AF optics are on the floor of the mirror box. Unless you really know what you are doing you could cause more problems than you solve trying to clean them - and it's quite unlikely they are dirty or that cleaning them will make a difference.

My guess is that Canon would charge around $100 to fix such a problem. I think that's their minimum charge for anything.
