Except for electronic deposits, Social Security checks are printed up and dleivered to the Post Office in advance of the date scheduled for delivery, so that they can arrive ON TIME without fail. Just like January checks, February checks MAY have been printed in andvance of the rollover for distribution to the USPO at this time, in anticipation of a Feburary 3 delivery. Just a thought!

squirrel hunter, i have been thinking the exact same thing. i think the only way to tell this month is that there should be some people who have changes, such as a death of a spouse, a deduction in benefits due to a child reaching 18, someone who is newly eleigible, etc.

hopefully this forum is large enough that there will be members who will be able to watch for this type of problem. i think that they are usually very prompt in discontinuing benefits after a death. after my father passed away my mother's social security was affected with the next payment. i suppose because there is a prompt efficient way to report all deaths. i kind of doubt though if they are as prompt in beginning new benefits, they would rather get started late and back pay you (because they have posession of the money for a longer period of time?)

anyway, it will be interesting to watch and see what happens.
