So, how's the weather?

It's pretty great here. I hear the rest of the country hasn't been so lucky, though. Tell me how it is, so I quit feeling so nostalgic about the Midwest already.

Groan. But not for the same reason as every else in the country...

See, while I was grew up in the snowy vales of rugged Montana, I considered myself blessed when it stopped snowing in March. Pretty much in this state, 6 month winters are considered mild-to-moderate.

Now, thanks to the wake of La Nina, we are experiencing the mildest winter in approximately 50 years, and all the local ski resorts are tearing their hair out. We're expecting drought this summer due to the lack of precipitation. At least it's starting to snow again, but it's super-frustrating when I read my newspaper and see that the east coast just got dumped on by Old Man Winter. I just want to ski on something other than rocks!

The weather here (Northern CA) is pretty good...it's winter, so it's the rainy season. We've been having a winter of extremes, though...up until last week, we'd been having a significant drought, and now everything's flooding. Oops.

It's odd for me, since I'm used to Wisconsin winters, and this is my first winter here in California. Though I'm pretty spoiled, since the heavy rains finally made it snow in Tahoe, so cold and ice is a mere 4 hours away. :)

Of course it started raining right after I bought a motorcycle, though. Pfeh. Come back, famed California sun! :)

it's been cold here in michigan. like, i was babbling in my journal about how amazing it was that it got up to 30F yesterday.

i really like it, though. i love the cold. wouldn't want it any other way.

This winter has been terrific; just enough snow to snowmobile, not enough snow to justify me purchasing a shovel. Only a few days of extreme cold, and even then, it really wasn't anything to write home about. Don't believe everything you read about winters in Canada. We have it pretty easy. :)
