Anyway to save a slightly out-of-focus image?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I keep getting images that's slightly out-of-focus. I've read the article abt the sharping function. It does say that it is not FOCUS. So, does anyone knows how to savage a blur pic? Any software or is it there's really nothing that can be done.

Kelvin, there is no way to back up once the image is captured. However, the sharpening function can help if the image is not too soft. Heavy use of the function will create its own artifacts. It's worth trying.

yeah try the sharpening or "unsharp mask" feature of photoshop. Next time use a tripod if you can, i know it isn't always possible. :) I have a big problem with camera shake using the 5x zoom on my 505.

I found that the Sharpen tool like in the one in Thumb Plus software, or other similar software, will produce the artificial effect. It makes the orginal picture look like a painting. I believe the Sharpen tool can only be used lightly to correct the blur, not to sharpen the out of focus picture.
