RUMOR from Saudi heard from genesis radio

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Listening online to Genesis Communications http://gcnlive.2z.net/...

5 min ago they did the old "received an e-mail quoting an anonymous source, and author will protect source at all costs" dog-and-pony-show.

The key points of the alledged e-mail are posted only as a rumor for your verification or dismissal, based on your sources. With that said, I appologize for the phonetic spelling; this was verbal info from the radio show 6:20pm EST:

(Yon boo?) is toast.

(Jedda?) working well enough.

BIG phone problems; biggest aggravation in the country.

Foreign workers staging for higher wages

Phone probs make shipping difficult

Tensions escalating, possibility for it not being safe for foreigners to be employed there within a month. Pentium III parts are -- he reckons -- being diverted to vendors in the Chip Direct programme.

Well, some things NEVER change!

Good to see this forum still serving as rumor central!

hey, i am always up for a rumor. i don't necessarily act on it but add it to my existing database.

i would bet some folks would have treated paul revere as a rumorer.

Keep 'em coming! I love rumours and heresay!

-- Ishkabibble (ishman@home.com), January 27, 2000.

Paul Revere a rumoror! I knew it! I knew it! The American Revolution was all a hoax. I'll quote this as a fact. Thanks for the info.

Pitty is, with this Saudi business, there could be a single grain of truth here.

-- Richard (Astral-Acres@webtv.net), January 27, 2000.

No offense taken LMAO, I know it takes a little extra grey matter to sort-and-file the unconfirmed. I'm sure no one here will hold that against you.

-- Hokie (Hokie_@hotmail.com), January 27, 2000.

You won't hold "having a little grey matter" against me?

Mighty kind of ya, Hokie!

You can check the link above for your spelling.

(Is a Hokie really a castrated turkey?)

-- LMAO (too@funny.here), January 27, 2000.

LOL, yep actually Hokie IS a neutered turkey. Mean bird is that. Mascot of Va Tech.

For what's its worth, Pentium III processors are as hard to find in my industry like nothing that's ever been seen before. Prices are accelerating upward, (just like oil).

I've been in the Computer Wholesale parts industry for about six years, never seen anything like it. Yes, shortages here and there, but nothing like this.

-- Michael (michaelteever@buffalo.com), January 27, 2000.

Michael,

What's your take on it, as far as the shortage? Do you think it's self imposed, or a manufacturing or materials problem?

Thanks, ~Dee

The list of things that can go horribly wrong with a Silicon fabrication facility (fab) is so long that it's almost magical that they ever manage to make anything at all.

Nightmares have occurred in the past, when for "no reason" all the chips coming off the line were duds, for weeks or months on end while the reason is sought.

It's just more obvious when it's Intel's newest product line that gets hit (few alternatives, though AMD must be happy).

Rumors,Rumors.I read somewhere that Noah singlehandedly pounded that Ark together.( was he retired when he started, very wealthy or unemployed???)Now Rumor has it that Martha Stuart helped him.

-- Liberator (Feeding@the Trough.com), January 28, 2000.

Liberator,

LOL Martha Stuart...well, that explains the blue and yellow floral print wallpaper that was found on a piece of the ark.
