Was this a Y2K glitch?

A sad search still continues in Great Barrington, MA for a five year old girl who fell in the Housatonic river on her way to school during the snowstorm on Tuesday. Only one school district closed for the storm in our immediate region. Others stayed open due to a lack of accurate forecasting for the storm which apparently occurred due to glitches in the weather services new computer system. I cannot remember a mistake like this occurring before, but I know many parents will remember how they wondered why school was not closed on that fateful day.
