Can't play VCDs in my DVD player

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Good morning people,

Is there someone who can tell me why my DVD player (model Sharp 550) does not play CD-R VCDs? Original VCD discs play as well as original DVD discs. However, when I put those CD-Rs I've got burnt using EZCD creator, the player doesn't want recognize them. So, What to do?

Thanks to all...

You have to have a dual-laser DVD player to read CD-Rs. The Sharp has only one so it can not read back CD-R. Try CD-RW.

So far only Pioneer and Philip DVD players are capable of reading CD-R. There're maybe others, but those are the only two I know.

My JVC xv-501 dvd/videocd/audiocd player will not play "homemade" video cd's and audio cd's made with Adaptec software either.
