OT - Desperate redneck has mail server questions.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Im getting error messages such as Could not find POP3 server. Also can send mail but cant receive mail. This is on an internal company server. Sorry to seem clueless in Seattle but this stuff has been dumped on me w/o documentation or manuals. Most users have IBM Think Pads and dial into NT server. Any good links that would help in resolving these problems.

Have you paid your Internet domain name fees lately?

Just a hunch.

That is the norm here, It some times fix'es it self with a reboot.

Our ISP recently split their mail system into separate inbound and outbound servers to better handle heavier email volumes. Yours may have too.

Look in the Internet & E-mail settings and try changing the mail server domain names to in.xxx.net for your Pop3 server and out.xxx.net for your SMTP server. Hope it works for you.
