Fuel Conservation Tips from Wiscosin AAA

As it appears the high fuel prices (perhaps much higher) will be with us for several months, here is a post by AAA to save on gasoline consumption. Common sense, I know, but maybe useful to some. (?)

Fuel Conservation Tips from Wiscosin AAA

Tips on using fuel

 Keep tires properly inflated.

Accelerate gently, brake gradually and avoid hard stops.

Do not purchase mid-grade or premium gasoline unless it is recommended by the vehicle's manufacturer or is needed to prevent knocking in an older vehicle.

Do not let the vehicle idle for more than a minute.

Check the engine oil level when buying gas to be sure the engine is lubricated properly.

Fill up at the self-service pump. Full-service regular unleaded costs nearly 24 cents more per gallon than self-serve.

 Combine errands into one trip.

When traveling, avoid excess weight on the roof and in the trunk by carefully packing the vehicle.

Periodically calculate the vehicle's fuel economy performance.

 Car pool when possible.

Travel during off-peak times, avoiding rush hour.
