Yeah and those giant gas-guzzling sport futility vehicles and trucks are going to be real popular if oil hits $50 a barrel.

Y'think the kids who spend $40,000 on an SUV are bothered by spending an extra $500 - 1000 per year on gas? I do not think so.

Personally, I think it would be nice to be able to see more than 10 feet ahead of me in my little ol' car. I'm sick of SUV's. Americans are so wasteful.

Personally, I love my SUV because I can get out of my driveway after I've been plowed-in by the snowplow operator pushing a three foot wall of snow across my path.

When I drive my little car I can't see over a snow bank that tall.

Yeah, but in my town, if you get more than 4 inches in one week it's a major thing, and everybody here has a dammed SUV. It's the choice of soccer moms all over town. It's purely a status symbol.

I have to agree with snooze on this one....After all, can ANYONE explain to me why it seems 'we' are the only ones abreast of the oil and gas prices? If you ask anybody about gas prices they piss and moan a little bit, but most seem 'in the dark'...Although I also agree the SUV's are purely status quo to alot of folks...I do insurance for a living and can tell you MANY have them. I like my little 92 eagle summit (skateboard windup car) gas milage is great and gets me where I need to be with front wheel drive. Especially here in N.E. Ohio.
