Holy Cow, super-luminal, I'd missed that one! It seems that there are three very different mindsets w.r.t. the coming assimilation -

  1. Luddites: Anarchists who are die-hard anti-technology. "Back to the Pleistocene" is Earth First's motto.
  2. Cheerleaders: Sounds like Extropians (and certainly Wired magazine fall into this category)
  3. Asleep: 98% of the population, who care only about the 3 constants of daily human life: money, health, relationships.

What's weird is, anybody in any of the 3 cited groups seems to exist in an intellectual vacuum, as though the other 2 groups didn't exist. (well, I guess for 'asleep' that is expected, but for the other two...)

Extropian Web Site

Hi Scott,

I would say that the Extropians are definitely aware of the Sleepers and Luddites. That is one purpose of their web site - to help spread their memes to a wider audience in hopes of countering the luddites and perhaps waking up more of the sleepers and soothing their fears.

P.S. - This is a cool forum, thanks for creating it.

-Jim
