When is MMMMM?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread

It would appear to the layman that no date has yet been set for MMMMM, OK's spring training camp in the Homeland. Would that that appears to be the case in fact be the case? If the date were not set by discussion, would it be enforced unilaterally by someone annointed to carry out such a decision?

MMMMM = Meenehan, Mary, and Mike's March Madness. It is a pre-US- Relay-Champs training event for OKers.

It seems to me like we have a couple of options -- and we ought to discuss them on the discussion forum. We could have a Homeland-based training camp. Who could come to that? When could it be held?

Another option would be to get together at an upcoming event. I can think of two good options: US Short Champs in Ohio, or the SLOC not- quote-an-A-meet. The SLOC event is early March and the US Short Champs is at the end of March.

What do people think? Who could (would) come to a training camp in the Homeland? Who could (would) come to a event weekend?

I think a Homeland MMMMM is the best idea, although Mook and Peggy would have to travel here. If we have the event any where else, everyone would have to travel to the site.

If we are Homeland-based, when should we do it. PTOC is hosting local meets on March 4 (Wyandotte) and March 19 (Landahl Park, a new area and map).

We should avoid March 11-12 (SLOC is hosting a two day non-A meet) and March 31-April 2 (OCIN is hosting the US Short Champs A-meet).

If March, I'd prefer the 1st, 2nd, or 4th weekends. Would it be a problem if PTOC has a meet on the same weekend as Fem-M?!?

I think it would be good to have MMMMM coincide with a local PTOC event. It would be a good end-of-the-camp excercise. Maybe we could even get the meet director to allow us to have a mass-start (simulating the relays).

I think the first weekend in March is the Wyandotte meet. The second weekend in March is the SLOC non-A meet.

Speaking of the SLOC meet, I have heard a rumor that there is still a chance the SLOC meet might get sanctioned as an A-meet.

At this time, the only weekend I can make in March is the third one. I plan to be in Park City the first, St Louis the second and at work on the fourth. And, no, Dan. The answer is NOT for me to take off work. I suppose I could handle something on the fourth weekend that where I could join in the mornings...

It is obvious Fritz will have to quit work for the good of OK. How much is in the budget after the purchase of that gazebo?

You really think OK could afford a psychiatric nurse of my caliber??
