Fuji mx1700-concert photos w/out using flash--settings

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Can anyone give me a little advice on using the Fuji MX1700 for taking photos at concerts but not using the flash (which of course would draw attention to something I probably shouldn't be doing). Is it possible to get good picturess? What settings should I try? I know it depends on lighting, conditions etc. but a ballpark starting point would help me a geat deal. Thank you.

I asked a similar question on this forum some time back and I got a helpful reply. You may want to look it up. Basically, with your camera, you should be using negative EV compensation.

A.Kaz. I have an MX1700 and have gotten amazing photos without the flash. Just set the flash setting to no flash, which displays the lightning bolt icon with a circle around it. I think with even low light you should be able to get good flash photos.
