PaintShop Pro. Is popular. there are shareware versions out there, It can also be bought for about $50. It has been favorably compared to photoshop.

I can't get out of here without plugging my own program - though It's admittedly not free like Digipics (which, by the way, is a very nice program) - nor does it offer the editing capabilities of Paintshop pro but ... (you had to figure there was some reason to get it)
...it was designed to do many things people with Mavicas like to do - and utilizes the proprietary thumbnails (called .411 files) of the Mavica so you can see what you have extremely fast. Check it out at:
