Just stoppin' in to say Hi

greenspun.com : LUSENET : It's All About Joe 90: The Discussion Board : One Thread

Hey everyone...(except Kristin#2 who made me cry by not mentioning that *I* was with her for almost 48 hours straight in Chicago and St Louis; apparently, I'm either a)too old -or- b)too boring to be included in her review. :::sniff::: but, i'm not bitter.)

Not sure if you guys heard yet what the song was that they added in St Louis; on the setlist it just said 'Gone' - I don't know if that's the whole title or not. Craig was telling me about the concept of adding the song to the end of the set; he said it was 'like the evening is over, and it's like a kiss goodnight.' (I posted this in my CC reviews, which are butt ass long, so if you want more show details, check out the AOL folder.)

Thanks to Kristin#1 and Jillybean for inviting me to come out east to join you guys. Unfortunately, I forgot it was my daughter's birthday, so I have absolutely no available cash. (I know, I suck for forgetting about her birthday...but you'd think she'd be happy with a limerick like everyone else, wouldn't you?) But, thanks anyway you guys - it's nice to know I'll be missed.

Kristin#1, can we call you Kristinson? Like on karate kid? I don't know where that came from, but I kinda dig it :)

Aimee, the new board set up is pretty cool. Is there any way to set it up so you can see 'at a glance' if there are responses to a subject? I wish I could access this at home, so I could talk to you guys more. I am soooo bad about not working if I even think about getting online here. My productivity is inversely proportional to the size of my bookmark list. (Pipe down, Dalton! No size remarks, okay?)

Okay...I know I'm allowed to multi-post, so I don't need to get everything in all at once, but I can't get here all the time, so I don't want to forget anything...

Um....I bought Dream This in Chicago like I promised - I really like it a lot. I played it like 6 times in a row the night I got home. Now I'm ready to look for the old stuff. If anyone knows right off where I can find it, please email me. (--if it's difficult, that is - if it's not, I do actually know how to find things by myself :)

Okay, here's me shutting up now...it's an amazing feat - see for yourself:

Later, Chris !

Chris-not-seefried, you incredibly bodacious hunk o sexiness! you can get Everybody right off of my site. go to "sounds" (i think. i don't even know my own site. duh.). there's a link there to amazon, right to the Everybody cd.

and yes, aimee loves Everybody. it's one of the greatest bubble bath and glass of wine records ever. very trippy.

there's also a link to Aluminum from my site (it goes to borders.com), but the last thing i heard, they're sold out there.

i'm trying to figure out how to get a post listing. believe me, i'm as lost as you are!

-- aimee.* (satylite2s@aol.com), January 24, 2000.

it's no secret (considering i tell anyone that will listen) that i love Everybody and Dream This equally. differently, but equally. Aluminum just never gelled for me like either of the other two records.

cover art? uhm...Everybody. basically ask me any question comparing the two and which one i like better in any sense at all, and i'm gonna say Everybody.

YES!! Sue!! Watching the Dog Stars LIVE, baby. my favorite, favorite Everybody song. it's the one that grabbed me from the very beginning and won't let go.

in response to your request for *old stuff* you can get Everybody and Aluminum by God's Child (joe90 before they were joe90 plus and minus a few key *players*!! Aimee looooovess and lives and breathes everybody, but im a fan of Aluminum. I think A if closer to what Joe90 is today, but thats just my opinion :) Everybody is good....but i prefer to shake my money maker to Female Elvis :)

i need to stop smiling

its been a rough few days here in Jill land. stuff i dont even want to get into! just UGH. im hoping work is slow tomorrow, so i can just sit and talk to my workfriends. i just need a BREAK from my LIFE, lol*......here's to hoping february comes QUICK!

yay! it's Chris (not seefried.)

i am extremely bummed that you won't be coming to pittsburgh for the show. but i understand, family comes first. (although if you were a TRUE fan you'd come.) and having done shows with you previously, i know for a fact that you are neither too old, nor too boring.

as far as knowing at a glance if there are any answers to a subject - you can click on the new answers link. that shows you how many answers a subject has gotten and when the most recent one was. the subject at the top of the list is the one with the most recent answer. so if you use this link a lot you can tell if there is anything new. example: if you checked the new answers this morning and the top subject was 'x' and it had 5 answers and you check again this afternoon and the top subject is still 'x' with 5 answers, then you know there have been no new responses. but if you check and the top subject is now 'y' then you know that there is at least one new response in 'y.' anyway, i've found this link to be very helpful.

or you can just set it up so that it emails you anytime someone answers a question. i see erin, jill and amanda joy have all gone with that option.

oh, and as far as everybody vs aluminum - i just got aluminum (thanks again kathy) and am only on my second listen. so far, i prefer everybody. aluminum just hasn't come alive for me yet. but we'll see how it does after a few more times through.

if we're doing the karate kid thing with my name, wouldn't it be Kristin-san? which i really kinda like, by the way.

has anyone else set their responses up so that it automatically fills in your name and email address? i like the little message it gives you about how if it isn't correct, you can "ask this server to expire your cookies." lol i wanna e

-- kristin (mehitabelx@aol.com), January 24, 2000.

how thoughtless of me! sorry chris! i had such a wonderful time at the shows with you. chris is very cool. she's very nice to me, even though she swears she can't hear anything i'm saying. and she let me crash at her place thurs night so my parents wouldn't know i was skipping class. haha. i was going to ask you about the name of that song, cuz i remember you got the setlist. and you forgot to tell everyone about craig emptying his pockets for you and giving you his pick. lol. i thought that was neat. can you forward me your reviews?

and we forgot to tell you all that we saw craig, adam, and willis at the Golden Nugget restaurant after the show. that was kinda bizarre. but not as cool as actually eating breakfast with them, like kathy and kris did in SF!

-- Kristin #2 (k-thomas2@nwu.edu), January 24, 2000.

ahhhhhhh. it cut me off again!!!! i wanna expire my cookies, dammit!

......

-- kristin-san (mehitabelx@aol.com), January 24, 2000.

kristin - i have activated my *cookies*.....and it enters my emails address and name automatically. its a handy-dandy feature.

and if you get every single post emailed to you, try to remember that you have to some HERE to answer to the board....because if you hit *reply* from the email you just answer to the author of the post, not the whole board. and i've almost done that wayyy too often, lol*

im gonna say again that i am SO glad its concert time. i love reviews. i love reminiscing. i love the fact im going to have to drive back from Pittsburgh on my own and its going to take me 10 hrs! the things i do for music :P

HEY i heard today on the radio that the Push Stars are playing HERE at the Iron Horse (a GREAT venue WHERE JOE90 SHOULD PLAY ****hint hint***) on Feb 5th....I'm gonna check it out, I think I'll go. its only a 25 minutes drive from my house! yay! and even though they aren't Joe90 or CC, its good enough :) The Iron Horse is cool, from what I have heard....its like a restaraunt that just *happens* to have a stage. You buy tix and everything like a regular show, doors open an hour and a half early, they seat you at tables, and you can order food and stuff while you see a show! yay! food and music, can't get much better than that :)

have a good week everyone :) be safe and all that. stay well! I might not be around much. school is going to take up a lot of time this semester :P

-- ~Jill (beezer6801@aol.com), January 24, 2000.

my radio station was WRONG.

jump, little children (WHO ARE ALSO A GREAT BAND!) are playing The Iron Horse on Feb5th. THe Push Stars are playing Pearl Street (ANother great venue for joe90!!!!) on Feb 17th, which is also the date of the Joe90 woodstock, NY show.

decisions, decisions.

lol... well, we strategically planned that aspect. we woke up at 7 when we didnt actually have to leave until like 11, just because we knew they were all leaving at 9 :) and then we saw dave gibbs and he came over and sat with us and let us use his toothpaste. and then kris saw gary and yelled his name even though he had no idea who she was, and then accosted him to come sit with us a few minutes later. but he was nice to us. so i guess it was worth the lack of sleep :)

seeing them at the restaurant is very cool though! i think we all should see joe 90 members every time we go to a restaurant... it should be a requirement of the establishment.

-- kathy (countcrow1@aol.com), January 24, 2000.

So I stop by and get a "oh hi dalton its jenn i dont really care that you are here but i'll say hi i guess." Cah-ris stops by and gets an "OH MY GOD! ITS CHRIS! BRING OUT THE BANDWAGON! STRIKE UP THE BAND! PLACES EVERYONE! Ok, who's throwing the confetti? Kristin? Which one? Here she comes! HEY CHRIS!"

I'm telling you, this is a secret sorority...

As long as you dont like hurt me or anything. :) --DR

-- Spunky Misunderstood Genius (daltontr@aol.com), January 24, 2000.

sorry dalton, but chris is the first and only folderite i've ever slept with so she's "special" to me. (although i suspect she's been sleeping with others ::sob::)

anyway - HI DALTON!!!!

-- kristin-san (mehitabelx@aol.com), January 24, 2000.

this is kind of out of the conversation now, but back to the everybody/aluminum discussion... i still haven't figured out which album i like better. aluminum is better to work out to because some of the songs have faster beats... but everybody is just lyrically amazing... so i don't know.

am i the only one who adores "crucial"? i could listen to that over and over and over again.. it's so soothing.

for some "dream this" content --> i love... love... love "look." i think it's because we can all relate in some way or another. "oh, i love watching you... do you love watching me too?"

studying. studying. i'm supposed to be studying!! and i'm supposed to leave for the gym in an hour and my dad's not home yet. peachy. he had to go to a dr's appt four hours ago! grr. they had to run some weird test though, so they have to keep him for awhile... i'm hoping not much longer!

aanyway...

no i love crucial too. but can anyone tell me what the lyrics are? not "the space me out mama" part but the other. cause i swear to god it sounds to me like "don't let a fart, don't let a fart."

..

-- kristin-san (mehitabelx@aol.com), January 25, 2000.

definitive answer-this song, which we are now ending our shows with, hasn't a definitive title. we're performing it as a comp of 2 songs, Gone, the "when it's gone" part and Electric Church, the "it's allright" part. so into the everybody vs. aluminum debate, which album cover do you like better?

About "Crucial", definitely one of my favorites. The lyric in question is actually a sample of a woman saying "Donna is crazy" in French. Its from a song by T. Rex called "Mad Donna" from the album Tanx, which Tony Visconti produced, 1974.

-- chris/joe90 (info@joe90.net), January 25, 2000.

ooh, thank you. it all makes sense now :) i was wondering about that.

i think i like the everybody cover better. not quite sure why, but if i want to dig really deep, i think i like the contrast the black and white outside and the colorful inside. i was going to ask who painted the picture on the disc, but i just found that. oooh... i guess i should read more. the info about crucial is in there... and 14th street. i don't look at my cds enough :)

jessica

-- jessica (rainqueen1228@yahoo.com), January 25, 2000.

Hey, it's me again...bring out the confetti :) sorry, dalton, but kristin-san is right...she is the first and only folderite i slept with. i slept *near* rhonda, but it didn't hold a candle to sleeping with kristin-san. If you get the chance, I hihgly recommend sleeping with Kristin-san. You won't regret it. But don't forget - I was and always will be her first!

So, I must say that I like Everybody best of the two Gods Child cds...wanna know why? Because I got it last night for $3.99!!! Go me! (Plus, I didn't hear the other one yet.) I only got to listen once so far...you guys said it sounded least like Dream This - I can see why you said that. But I think I might like this one better. It's edgier. And I could have been imagining it, but it seemed really long. I'm all for long albums. Tonight I'll listen and pay attention at the same time and let you guys know which songs I like.

I hope I get as lucky on finding Aluminum.

ooh! I also found an old album by Jill Sobule that came out before the one with I Kissed a Girl. It sounds great so far. Kind of like how Something/Anything would have sounded if Todd was a girl.

Kristin-san, I like saying Kristin-san. How did you know how to spell it? I thought *I* was a dictionary geek!

Aimee, you always know what to say to make me hot. I mean smile. Hi!!!

Kristin#2 - one of these days I will hear your real voice - it'll be like in Dogma! Hey, you guys...Kristin whacked me in the arm! Shit - now I forget why, but I swear, it's true! (Sorry for saying shit. Can I say shit here?)

I gotta run and get my pictures from the shows. Last Thursday I thought Kristin#2 got in trouble for taking pics, not for her recorder, so I didn't take one picture during the Joe90 set. Sucks. Then the security guy told us we could take pictures or do whatever kind of dope we wanted (THANK GOD!!! WE WERE MAJORLY FIENDING!!!) as long as we didn't spit on them or throw anything at them. W!

Thanks to Chris(soSeefried) for explaining the song. Now I have to go listen again. Adios!

"...and when I'm sad.......I slide" ~Chris

-- Chris(notSeefried) (TankGrrL29@aol.com), January 25, 2000.

I was angry about that too! I think I got one picture of the guys on stage, and it wasn't a very good one. So after the security guard said that, I decided to save a bunch of film for Hanginaround and try to get pics of them with the Crows.. still not the same though. Oh well. You all are making me supremely jealous - I want Everybody and Aluminum!! I have absolutely no $$ tho, and my mom was just telling me yesterday that I'm expensive... I try not to be! Oh well, that was quite a reality check. Gonna go eat and watch the Simpsons. Bye bye.

-AJ

Shout out to Silverchair, they supremely(my word of the day) rock!

-- Amanda Joy (hello@ameritech.net), January 25, 2000.

The only thing I like about Aluminum are the pictures inside. I don't like the cover art, I don't like the songs (although Need does sound a little familiar from all of my years of watching Melrose Place). Sorry guys, no offense or anything (but I think I remember Chris and Adam expressing the same sentiment in Montreal). I just think Everybody is definately the better album and Dream This blows them both away. (sorry Aimee!!) Watching the Dog Stars would be cool to hear live though :) And Kristin, I like your "Crucial" lyrics a lot!

Hi Chris and Dalton :)

i am so glad to have that crucial question answered. it was really bugging me. thank you. i did actually know that i was hearing a sample of "mad donna" because i saw that in the liner notes. i even went and found a webpage with the lyrics but nothing looked anything like what i was hearing. but then nothing was in french either.

as far as the everybody vs aluminum artwork goes - i'm going to have to go with everybody once again.

and chris-not-seefried, i don't know how i knew how to spell kristin-san. i just did. thank you for coming up with the name. i think it's pretty cool. i may even make everyone at work call me th

-- kristin-san (mehitabelx@aol.com), January 25, 2000.

i love aluminum!! especially "female elvis" and "spaceboy", which i love... most of it's really good though, like "picture this" and "this is the real world?". i haven't listened to "everybody" all that much yet, but i think i like aluminum better. i dont know, i'll have to listen more. the cover art is WAY better than aluminum's though!!

i cannot wait to hear the new song... and the 1-2-3 thing in ferris wheel... in 4 days!!!

-- kathy (countcrow1@aol.com), January 25, 2000.

so into the everybody vs. aluminum debate, which album cover do you like better? -

album cover? i prefer everybody - by a lot :] but like i've stated before, i like aluminum better. I definitley like the photographs inside of aluminum better as well.

i think kathy has heard my thoughts on this. its a depeche mode kind of day! wheeeee.

mwah.

-- erin*89 (feelingtornados@aol.com), January 25, 2000.

Check it out! I'm posting from home! This new board set-up is much easier for my dinosaur computer to load.

Amanda! You were there when that stupid security guy said that? You must have been right by me! Dang...sorry I didn't know - it would have been great to meet you.

Cover art? I've only seen little eeny-beeny online pics of Aluminum, so I can't be sure, but any album with a picture of guys laying around together all 'snuggly' looking automatically gets my vote!

Later y'all :) Chris

-- Chris(notSeefried) (TankGrrL29@aol.com), January 25, 2000.

I just wanted to say that jessica i think it is has the best email address ever (joecrowgigolo@aol.com). it rhymes, too. maybe if i ever get a band and get signed to e pluribus, i should rhyme my band with "crow" because Duke Daniels just don't rhyme and we all know how much THEY play with CC. woooo Dalt's in a silly mood...Take a heavy dose of sarcasm and call me in the morning.

--DR P.S. Ferris Bueller you're my hero...

-- Dalt, not . . . uh . . . damn (daltontr@aol.com), January 25, 2000.

I love coming online to a flooded mailbox =) Chris - yes I must have been really near you! I was about 3rd or 4th row center, right in line with the center mic(and that security dude). I was standing by Bob, lol.. he was this really nice and really tall guy who let me and this other girl I befriended go in front of him so we could see. Anyhoo... how come I can't ramble this well in my reviews? I love Jessica's new e-mail addy! However, I still like my AIM screenname just cuz it's different (oblivion33333333) <== count 'em, 8 3's =) I think I'm one of few people here who doesn't have aol... can't help that they banned us! Long story tho(not really, but I'm rambling)...

Bye bye!
