There is far too much censorship on this forum now. Postings being deleted etc.

Sorry, Jack, but I've been here long enough to trust the Sysops good judgement.

It looks as if "Jack" made his debut under the handle Mr. Sane with the following on January 10:

Dickman, you sound like a real loser. Your wife might be even more mentally deficient than you.

There are about 20 postings from this IP number; here are some highlights:

Shakey, I normally have respect for my elders, but you are a complete and utter raving lunatic. You are seriously in need of help. People like you just don't seem to get it, it's over.... January 22.

Brent, those figures are useless. You say they are compiled from forum posts. Most of the computer failure posts don't have anything to do with y2k, or have not been verified.

I think you should get a life and accept the fact that y2k is a big nothing. January 20.

Ron, I'd bet you a million dollars, and I'd win, you idiot. If they had put the clock back 2 years, why did the clerk call the manager, who then tried to work out the problem. Was that the 1st instance of a problem on the 11th of January?? Or would they play that little game with every customer who had returned a supposedly late video that year. Why not turn the clock back to 1994, where the days would be the same date is in 2000. I can't believe the level of stupidity of some people here. January 18.

mike, people like you shouldn't be allowed to have children. January 18.

Now what was that about too many deletions, Jack? Seems to me we sysops have been too lenient.

Sysops,

ROTFLMAO! - what a pathetic loser Mr. Sane is.

And another thing:

[Crossposted from another thread] Cinlooo, you must know by now that certain posters are banned from this board for bombing, spamming, hacking, or engaging in other severe disruptions. It is the right of the administrators of this board to say what policies will be followed.

Oh, and your remark about censorship? When a handful of hecklers at a public meeting are so loud as to drown out the invited speakers, they are summarily ejected. Why? Because denying an invited speaker his or her right to speak by means of drowning them out is a form of censorship too. In addition, intimidating someone so that they are afraid to post is another form of censorship. When bombing and spamming result in people getting tired and going elsewhere, that also is a form of censorship. I don't recall any protest from you when the trolls engage in disruptive heckling.

Here's the bottom line: If you do not like the way this board is administered, you are free to start your own board or go to another with policies of which you do approve. Nobody is forcing you to stay.

Jack,

Pretty hard to take your post seriously with a such a handle. Why do you feel a need to use a such a name on a public forum? Just curious.

-- Dee (T1Colt556@aol.com), January 23, 2000.

Dee,

Gee, King of Spain had an email address of Madrid@aol.cum. I didn't see you whining about that.

Touche Jack

Uh ...OK...[cross posted from another thread]

Hahaha Hawk! Delusions of grandeur? I believe that's a symptom of some psychiatruc disorder. Get help. ***Cin, have you been an idiot all your life, or just since the botched labotomy?

-- Ban ALL Spammers...Give sysops *20%* raise (@ .), January 23, 2000. ***

Excuse me...isn't this spamming? Why is it ok for some but not for others? Why don't the same "rules" apply to everyone?

I follow the rules but I don't kiss anyone's ass. And I certainly won't let a few bullies run me off. People that enjoy dogpiling on others, show just how weak and insecure they are.

I have never spammed this board, nor do I intend to. It's just not my thing. I will continue to call a spade a spade. If you intend to start deleting my posts on sight, keep in mind that I intend to go over your head. You can prove no wrongdoing on my part.

As for the comments about LL, I really think some of you are OBSESSED with her. Someone mentions her name in nearly every other thread.

Good day

-- cin (cinlooo@aol.com), January 23, 2000.

And as far as Brettwhoever's comments about me disrupting the board lately, I consider that slander(a complete lie) and I believe that's illegal.

Again...Good day

cinloo (and "Jack"),

You can read my response here...

Yet another Y2K Pro spam post deleted, courtesy of your friendly, neighborhood sysops

http://hv.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id= 002O9x

All who flame, disrupt, heckle, character assinate, abuse, spam, or DOS attack here, are all free to leave. The Sysops invite you to do so.

Freedom does not mean the rest of us have to put up with the daily abuse. Majority rules... remember?

Start your own forum, if you disagree with this one. It's your "free" choice to do so.

Diane

-- Diane J. Squire (sacredspaces@yahoo.com), January 23, 2000.

Diane...

I know you are doing a "job". I can respect that. I have no problem following those rules. Please keep in mind that everyone else should be following the same rules and there shouldn't be some who are exempt from them. I don't appreciate being personally attacked, any more than you do.

With that being said, I will now stop posting to this thread.

Thanks...Cin

Frankly I'm suprised that this thread hasn't been deleted. The policy as of a couple of months ago was that this type of subject was not appropriate to the forum because the policy is no longer a matter of debate. It is bad enough that the sysops have their hands full with trolls disrupting valuable discussions, so they certainly don't need participants starting entire new threads questioning their judgement.

cinlooooo,

"Hahaha Hawk! Delusions of grandeur? I believe that's a symptom of some psychiatruc disorder. Get help."

Sorry hun, there's no delusions involved, I AM Grand, as is ALL of God's creation. That even includes you, but instead of realizing it, you choose to go around trying to find ways to put yourself on a pedestal by belittling others. Instead of contributing your thoughts about the actual subject of a discussion, you prefer to psychologically analyze and pass judgement on the behavior of the participants. You come off sounding like someone trying to earn a degree from the "Dr. Laura" school of psychology. Maybe she'll let you fill in for her on her sick days! :-)
