I don't understand the uproar about RC

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Folks [Someone, I believe it is TAZ doesn't like this, but what the hey].

I really don't understand why the web site is an issue. I knew about it long before RC was outed. It doesn't take an expert to find these things [lord knows I am not one]. It just seemed irrelavent to mention it. Also unethical. For me, I am only interested in what people have to say. Do I take them at face value? Of course not. Read and verify! Personally, I didn't think any failures would occur at roll over [I've said this before; this includes Dec and earlier; I've been here a long time] because I couldn't find any verifiable information to support this. In contrast, I could find verifiable information that things would work. I was right. I did't know this for a fact; I just lucked-out. If you accepted the information that RC gave without independent verification, that is your problem. If you rejected it without verification, that is also your problem. Let us get on with the task.

Best w

Cool! what exactly is the task, since you correctly predicted no problems at roll-over? I like the tone of your post but I don't understand your reason for being here or the task as you see it. Just curious.

I not only predicted NO GLITCHES at rollover, but also that there would be no glitches of any sort, type or kind beginning 01/01/19100.

It feels great to be right.

Mr. Almond the 19100 problem is a very serious problem. You had better start storing up gold coins now if you expect to survive it.

I like RC and his essay about Mystery Babylon was great, was great things on www.sightings.com today chemtrails, reptile aliens and an article by Paula Gordon, Is it posted here? Have not seen it, she mentions the site alot If I knew how to do it would bring it over

Joseph Almond:

Don't consider myself right, just lucky.

Jose:

What is the task? Based on my experience, so far, we are not out of the woods [at least I'm not, I live in the woods]. This site provides a great news service relating to possible problems. As the folks on Debunking Y2K say; wow, we need to get news robots [That is their words; those of us here appreciate the service] like they have on TB2000.

Best wishes,,,,

Just kidding above, kids...

My 'core' thoughts are:

Y2K is happening in slow motion, which is worse than all at once. Why? Because many more lives will be adversely impacted as conditions degenerate slowly.

A sudden, general blackout at rollover would have awakened us to our awful duties. But this gradual decay of efficiency will sneak up on us like a stealthy enemy...thus all the mre successful to overtake us in our complacency.

Watch milk, gas, cereal and fresh produce prices each week.

These will reveal what the big boys in media can't.

We are in deep trouble.

Prepare.

Jose,

just saw you catch Z1X4Y7 with a relevant question (what is your task?) Good eye! He hasn't answered, of course, but I assume it is identical to Butt Nugget's, but the pay may be different.

Canned ham is better than canned corned beef. Something I never thought I would need to know.

" I didn't think any failures would occur at roll over [I've said this before; this includes Dec and earlier;"

Z1X4Y7, now that you have told us in retrospect what one of your predictions were last year, could you tell us what to expect in the next 4 months.

Z1X4Y7 Could you please list RC's website your referring to? Anybody? I always looked forward to reading his posts. I hope he changes his mind.

We all did, no matter what our "belief".

I agree. Here is my answer to the "what good is this forum since we Survived rollover?" question.

There are a lots of "walks of life" represented on this forum. The majority are intelligent, educated, inquisitive thinkers.
The Analysis of information/opinion presented here is the ongoing value of being a forum citizen. We can lurk and receive this value, or post and contribute.

The value of having 1000 pairs of eyes scanning the world's information networks and reporting back here is enormous. The information should be filtered by your personal 'scoring system' before using of course.
Some people are analytical in nature and enjoy studying the world as a hobby, others want to take advantage of information to plan how they will act. I see both types here on the forum. They give us longterm big overview pictures as well as second-by-second daytrader advice.
The unique blend of information and sources is what we come here for,IMHO.(Sorta like Information Expresso...)
