VISA expiration date refused by e-machines

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Registered an e-machine online. There is an offer for extended warranty that requires credit card info. Date format required: MMYY. Entered 0700, as the card says. Refused! "INVALID DATE!" This blocked the online purchase of the extended warranty.

It's Jan 22, 2000, and no one should even try to tell me it's NOT Y2k!

That was my exact prediction for old DOS machines (Invalid Date)in an earlier thread, which was quickly talked away in a little exchange between Flint and Decker.

I then made the assumption that this would constitute a samll emergency for the Small Business Owner. But I didn't count on the "ingenuity" of the users: setting back the date. Which of course, I cannot do with a credit card.

As I hear about instances of date manipulation, I KNOW Y2k is not over.
