OT: Gun Manufacturers Fighting Back

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Go to this site for news that will make your weekend, if you believe in preserving our freedoms. That includes, to me, the right to freely engage in manufacture and commerce of bathtubs, in which some people drown people, baseball bats with which some people kill people, and so forth. These gun manufacturers are fighting back!

And there are also those who would ban video cams because they can be used to make kitty porn...

I have to acidulously note that I don't recall bathtubs being marketed and sold for their awesome abilities to hit targets hundreds of times in minutes. But don't let that stop you.

Good evening.

Ned, as far as I know, there is no constitutional right to own and use a bathtub or car, but more folks die in these than are killed by firearms. If you don't want a gun, don't own one. If you don't want to be around them, move to England.

Ned, I think you may mean "assiduously/"

Ned, responsible gun manufacturers do not advertise their guns to shoot HUMAN targets, etc. Read "Unintended Consequences" by Ross (amazon.com) and see what a wide, interesting, intelligent, often very scientifically-minded persons enjoy the use of guns for a great variety of shooting sports. Hunters also appreciate their use, and help to keep down otherwise starving herds of animals, i.e. deer, etc. And then there are those who just enjoy mastering a skill in target shooting. Finally, there are those of us who master the skill because we wish to protect our persons from attack, if at all possible. You would understand that if you had ever been a woman who'd been attacked. Then, of course, guns are manufactured for the police, the FBI, the DEA, the NSA, the CIA, etc. And of course, for our armed services. These are all (supposedly) legal agencies that protect the nation and its citizens...another thread can deal with that.

The fact that criminals use guns for their nefarious purposes does not entitle ANY municipality or individual to sue the manufacturers for their manufacture. Put them out of business, and Uncle Sam is going to be hard put to defend your ---.

I purposely mentioned bath tubs and bats because the man in Atlanta who ended up at a business firm and committed murders there with a gun first began his rampage at home, where he bludgeoned his wife and two children with a hammer, then finished them off by drowning them in the bathtub! But only ONE news source mentioned THAT fact...they let it appear it was a gun he'd used at home also, by their NOT mentioning otherwise. This is part of a growing national bias introduced by politicians to serve their own ends, namely, to make slaves out of an unarmed populace.

Please read your Constitution and Bill of Rights. I can send you a copy, if you'd like.

P.S. If you'd ever visit the NRA indoor range, which is located here in No Virginia, you would see fathers teaching their sons to shoot for pleasure and sport, law enforcement officers as instructors, husbands and wives practicing together, and a lot of very solid, NICE citizens. The criminals get their guns illegally usually, and they don't frequent places of sport like this.

"Delfay harshly admonished the Bill Clinton White House for its recent announcement that the Department of Housing and Urban Development might file its own lawsuit against the gun industry."

Maybe we citizens should sue the Federal Government. Seems that Public Housing kills people. However, they might argue that public housing doesn't kill people, people kill people.

Restore the Constitution........vote KEYES.

A member of my immediate family worked for Senator Simpson for several years. Wyoming rules. People in Wyoming don't need a big brother to take care of them. The higher the population, the more they 'need' help. We've always looked down upon sheep........

You want to know how bad it is??? The theme song from the HBO show "The Sopranos" has just started getting heavy radio airplay. The opening line of the song (also repeated elsewhere in the song) is "Woke up this morning got yourself a gun".

Well, guess what? When they play it on the radio they 'blur' the word GUN like they do when a song contains profanity!! Funny, but I never knew that the word 'gun' was profane. They play songs about gangsters busting caps, drug use, teens sleeping around, etc. but they can't say the word 'gun' in a song? Give me a break.

It's about time the gun manufacturers did something. This is absurd!!

Weird. We can childproof medicine bottles, but not guns.

Sincerely,

Heck......this society decided about the same time that 'gun control' really warmed up, to BEGIN medicating children in this country!!

If our kids had a parent at HOME with them (that wasn't 'medicated' themselves), they wouldn't NEED to childproof guns. We are one PATHETIC society in the parenthood department!
