OPIS Alert: Commercial Diesel Outages likely in NE USA in next 10 days

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I'm Glad I Prepped for Y2K

The above is from Downstreamer's Oil Forum.

It is just my opinion, but commercial diesel outages sound alot like transport and shipping disruption.

This is getting worse.

Got K-1? Heater? Firewood?

Yes, got K-1, affirmative on the kero heater (thnks to ALL of you so called doomers whom scared me into action, again I say thanks) and no firewood, as I have no fireplace. I think this is all pretty scarey.

Thanks Bill,

It just took me 5 hours to get some oil options filled, hid to bid up $10 every hour per contract, paid $50 more than close yesterday - sheesh!

Latest from Harry Schultz...

For now, we'll say that OIL is still the Achilles' heel, as we've warned before. Things are HAPPENING right now. Pennzoil closed one refinery. Iraq lost 75% of its oil production. A Y2K power outage in the middle east is affecting oil production. And many more such occurrences. Many oil men are being mysteriousie, refusing to comment.

If all of this is for real, gezzzz, just when I thought everything would be fine. We're in deep sh@t again.

Maybe I shouldn't get that new diesel powered Mercedes this week-end...

Diesel would mostly cause problems for individuals and over the road long haulers.

Monk, I suspect diesel will settle once the trains pick up their slack on shipping. Anyone seen any stats on increased trucking?

Can anyone link to more detailed stories about Iraq? and Andy, what Middle East Y2K power outages? First I've heard about this.
