OT-good news-gun turn in and confiscation in Kalifornia a flop

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

---yep, almost a total flop. Only some hundreds turned in, with many many thousands not. Keep it up cal people, just say NO to new world order gun grabbers. Shows what mass civil disobedience of illegal and stupid laws can do. "They" are confused, scared and floundering. Keep them off balance, keep the heat on them, no retreating. Support the intiatives to take back your "born with" rights. Bravo!

And I bet that not a one turned in was worth over $50.

There was some local news coverage of the fact that gun owners and sellers were making some very simple mods to get their weapons "street-legal". There was also a surge of buying late in the year (some possibly Y2K-related, others to get the purchase done before the ban went into effect) and relatively few weapons turned in, so it looks like "unintended consequences" all 'round.

--whoops, sorry, my mistake, should have specified that this was a news story heard on the radio, shortwave. Looked a little for a web based news report, nothing yet, but will post as soon as possible. Cal gunowner/activists here on this board might be better able to find a hotlink. Trying to confirm the number I heard, only 600 or so turned in in that buyback program, a much lower figure than official estimates of probable ownership. Will repost if I can find some more confirmation. Maybe someone who frequents free republic might have some more info as well.

There was a post a week or 2 back with the stats of turn-ins verses number thought withheld. Turn-ins was under 10% I'm thinking 3? Anyone else remember the figure, or thread?

anyway, WAY TO GO CALIFORNIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many guns were sold in Reno or sent to stay with out of state friends or relatives till things get better.
