Symbolism

How does Poe use symbolism in "THE RAVEN" and "ANNABEL LEE"? I would also like to know in what other poems does Poe use strong symbolism.

in "The Raven", the knocking at the door is symbolic of the man's memory of his lost love, Lenore. The raven itself is used to emphasize the tone of eeriness in the poem. the phrase "nevermore" means death. Poe felt that the death of beauty, a lost love, was the most poetic thing to write about. hope this can help!
