Subject: Response to OIL GOING TO DOUBLE WITHIN WEEKS... UPDATE BY JC...

So ... we are back to inuendo and rumor, NOT hard facts. Sorry JC, that just isn't good enough. If oil hits $60-90 ... the stock market will have long since tanked, the oil stocks along with it ... if they hadn't been nationalized by then! As far as a war in the works ... there may not be enough oil to have a war .... war requires HUGE amounts of oil nowadays and if wells and refineries are having Y2K problems, that doesn't leave much oil to play war games with! As far as oil being cheap and just catching up ... that too is a lame excuse .... but go ahead, jack the price up ... so that alternative fuel sources can take off and be competitive with oil. Wasn't that the game foolishly played to knock the Kyoto talks off tracks so that the global warming steam would deflate the alternative energy development .... keep those oil prices low and you won't get alternative energy off the ground? No JC ... you will have to do better than that as you dance around with your fake email addresses. I did like your .... Y2K is about OIL, everything else can wait. My version is ... you can fix all the computers in the world, but if you don't have enough fuel to run them ... they are worthless! I think we learned the hard way at rollover how easily the internet can too quickly legitimize rumor. That dog don't bark no more. I am keeping score though on how many refineries have problems, and would love to know from someone out there what has happened to oil wells and their sleeping embedded chips .... has Prince Charming begun to awake them yet? Is the oil still pumping out of the ground? Or ... are the drillers hitting new highs because it isn't .... or maybe ... just because the oil price is up high enough now to bring out those idle rigs and dust them off?

(Couldn't get my response to take on JCs thread, so started this one ... anyone else having problems?)

My dear Mr. Barber,

Lee, you sound like some ruthless redneck. I'm not God, and the only reason why I answered this is for the innocent people who read these threads. As far as your concerned it is not worth answering. What do you want from me. Tape recorded conversations with an oil baron and 100 page binded document. You stupid man.

JC

Please don't let the wood worms (and we do get a few of them in here LOL) get to you. And please continue to post (what is safe for you) news. If no one else can, I can read between the lines. And I think I just might know some of those folks you know also..After all! If you grow up in west texas. Some of the kids in your class are the children of the oil "boys".

I think we are in for a "hay ride"! And she is going to be a beaut!

Hmmm, let's see where we can go with this. We have tape recorded conversations and video footages of Paula Gordon, Gary North, Ed Yourdon, etc., warning about Y2K. We have thousands of pages of documentation of reports, books, websites, volumes and volumes of binded documents from the "EXPERTS," telling us that Y2K could very well be the straw that breaks the camels back. Millions prepared and millions of dollars were spent to get ready for TEOTWAWKI. We were all so innocent, so believing of the potential danger that we were anxiously waiting for. Lee does not sound to me like a red neck, he sounds like a sensible man weighing all the evidence and facts, which are none that I could see in your post JC. Be careful who you call stupid.

Don't get me wrong folks ... I PREPPED and will remain so until September quite frankly. BUT JC, you just didn't say anything ... even between the lines where there were too many gaps. If I was your Prof in college, I'd give you a D minus and send you back to the drawing board. I just read Paula Gordon's revised piece and think her timetable of events is about right. I also read where Bruce McConnell of Big Int'l Gov fame, didn't think much would happen during rollover ... but that the fireworks would start mid Jan to late Jan and thereafter. I'm also keeping a watchful eye on embedded chips and their overflowing buffers .... that might cause explosions, mechanical malfunctions, fires in refineries and elsewhere. I'm just weary of peddlers of rumors and inuendos. Do you really think if the price of oil gets to $60 that the government won't step in with price controls and the stock market won't take a tumble with oil stocks leading the way? Maybe you were just talkin' to ole JR who knew how to twist ya round his little ole thumb.

-- Lee Barber (LeeeeeeB@webtv.net), January 18, 2000.

You seem to think that price controls would be a *good* thing.

How strange.

JC, You've made your position clear in your recent posts, and we can only take your information as a verrry interesting perspective. (Except for the types who buy on rumor and sell on fact, in which case they will also be acting on your information...)

I like the general tone of TBTK which is being respectful of what you say, with the hopes that you will continue to share your thoughts with us. I think whatever you're doing, it's added a very useful flavor to the soup.

Thanx.

Could JC be St. Francis or George Gerges?
