Help with RCA 5500p DVD player-do CD-R or CD-RW Video CD's work with this player?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi there I'm having a problem with my RCA5500p DVD player it wont accept Video CD's that I have burnt onto CD-R or CD-RW media I can't to seem to find any spec's on the player although there was a small chart in the old messages section but said it was unknown if it was capable of playing CD-R or CD-RW VCD's. The few bits of literature that I have found state that the player does read Video CD'S but I've seen nothing about VCD's that have been burnt on to CD-R's or CD-RW's. I'm using Nero burning and Ulead encoding software, I don't know if this makes any difference or if different brands of CD recordable media do either. If anyone has any suggestions about the RCA 5500p or Nero or CD recordable I'd love to hear them, much appreciated -Brett James brettnyla@telus.net

I own the RCA 5210P. According to RCA, none of their DVD players to date currently support CD-R and CD-RW.

I am pretty sure you can not rely on a playback of CD-R or CD-RW media on these RCA players. However, it is known that RCA players favour CD-RW media and Sony ones CD-R. Unfortunately as long as these media are not specified in the product definition you can not trust even different shippings of the media from the same brand. It might be worth to collect a list somewhere in the internet. I got best results with Memorex CD-RWs from US. Verbatim (EU shipping) failed.
