Alaskan Pipeline: Anyone know if it is functioning without problems thus far?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Has anyone information on what might be going on with the Alaskan Pipeline?

Also, any word regarding pipelines that had closed down? Are they all up and running?

Thanks!

No news is good news. I think if there were major problems it would be all over CNN, Fox, etc

EskimoPie, You really believe that pipeline problems would be all over CNN, Fox, etc.? IMHO that kinda of news would rock the perfect stock market that CNN portrays night after night. Wall Street won't have it! Wall Street runs CCN, Fox, etc., ya know?

I can guarantee if the Alaskan Pipeline went down, the oil powers that be would NOT be able to keep it under wraps. There aren't any major production fields or pielines down due to y2k.

To Downstreamer and anyone else who might have answers:

You say that none are down. Yet there were companies that said last year that they were not going to be able to remediate everything on time. In fact, folks who blew the whistle in June of last year on one of the major pipelines indicated that there were problems getting that pipeline remediated. (Two other sources independent of one another said the same thing about that pipeline.)

Some questions:

1) If none of the major pipelines are down, does that mean that they all are fully remediated?

2) Or are some are still not remediated and operating on manual?

3) Or does are they not operating manually and (still) planning to fix on failure? (Some companies had said they were planning to fix on failure.

4) If none are down, are they all operating at normal capacity?

5) In the last months of 1999, several pipeline companies said they would be shutting down temporarily over the rollover. Are they back on line now?

Thanks!
