Banning Recordings

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Well, we have a perfectly good banned games list that's not being put to any use. There's been a lot of talk recently about what to do with some games, as the player list at MARP continues to grow, and certain games continue to be abused. With Zwaxy and Pat being able to set the max score for a game at zero, it is perhaps time that we consider doing this for games on the banned game list.

So let's vote.

For now, this vote only includes games that were orignally designed as 2-player ONLY games. The vote is: Should games which are requiring of two players (ie: Gun Fight) to play in the spirit of said game have their maximum points awarded set to zero (such as 'Bally/Sente Diagnostic' or 'deleted'). This will be a binding rule and apply to all future releases as well as current ones. Please vote a simple 'yes' or 'no' to show whether this motion is supported by the gaming community at MARP.

I will vote Yes to the banning completely of two player games (because they just aren't fun to watch when they are not played with two players and they can't really be graded as good or bad if two players were actually playing, unless you know who both uploaders were...)

But banning games shouldn't be a simple zero out of score, there has not been time for the people that know the site well enough to either impliment a banning function or to teach the people that might be able to impliment a banning function. The banned game still has a score that it represents it would be prefered to exclude it's contribution to the leaderboard score. This involves a decent amount of work and changing the MARP sql database...

Although, perhaps it's just as easy to just type the playedback banned score in the text and set the score to zero and force the banning party to explain a reason why the score was banned?
