Has the X-Files been freaking you out lately?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Jan : One Thread

OK, the last few episodes of the X-Files seriously freaked me out and I know I'm not the only one. That episode where Mulder and Scully are trapped in the underground cave by the huge psychotropic mushroom seriously freaked me out. It took me like half the week to get over that one, and then last week's was no better. I've taken to making Keith sit next to me so that he can narrate the parts where I hide my head and can't watch.

So am I the only one, or what?

*grin* Well, the mushroom one didn't get me, since I saw it last season. Of course, I'm the biggest X-Files fan, so I adore all the scary creepy stuff. I didn't get to see last night's ep (was it good?) but I enjoyed the one the week before. The X-Files does tend to creep me out sometimes. It's the scariest thing I'll let myself watch. I'm a wimp when it comes to scary movies/shows. I don't think it's been frightening me any more than it always has though.

Can I ramble or what?

Last night's episode was OK, not too scary, but still sort of interesting. Keith thought it sucked, though, because he felt that all the parts weren't tied in at all.

Incidentally, if you saw the one last week with the guy who had the fetish for women's hair and fingernails, do you have any idea what that whole thing was about where he turned into a demon creature for two seconds when he killed the preacher? They like, never mentioned that again, which sort of irritated me.

OK, so last night's episode didn't totally freak me out, but what's the deal with the big focus on religion lately? Last week, they had the evil priest who was letting prisoners out with his powers that he thought were given to him by God, and then this week was ALL about religion. What's the deal? Is this all going to build up to a crisis of faith for Scully, or what?

Incidentally, wouldn't it be great to have been that actor on last night's show and be able to put "Satan" on your resume?

They do get on the subject of religion a lot, and I'm not sure why. I think it's interesting though. I guess using a devil is one way to not talk about aliens the whole time.

I like last night's ep, even though I'm not the world's biggest fan of snakes. I always like when the bad guy ends up being the good guy. It's just a twist you never expect.

Oh, and when Gracie gave birth to snakes? That's just going to give pregnant women nightmares. It would give me nightmares if I were pregnant. Which I'm not.

Next week's ep looks good! Supposedly they're solving the problem of Mulder's sister sometime this season, and Feb. sweeps would be a good time to do it. I bet next week's ep is a setup to that. I love sweeps month. Is that pathetic or what? But it's cold outside, warm inside, and nice to be able to watch good shows.

Ok, I'm done rambling now.

The freakiest episode I ever saw was that one with the tribal guy and his little blow dart thingy, and he'd regurgitate it or something? And his victims turned into albinos? I forget now, but Scully went chasing after one of the albino looking thingies in an air vent and it was just plain freaky.

The first episode I ever saw scared me, big time. It was about a voodoo school teacher. I've only seen these 2 episodes once, and for good reason.

Speaking of Samantha, I'm in love with the episode where Mulder suspects she was actually just the victim of a child serial killer who cuts hearts out of the clothing of his victims. It's nice when a show that excels at scaring you can really move you at times, also.

I missed the dart one, but I think I saw the voodoo school teacher one, if it was the one where the guy got eaten by a giant snake in his basement. That one really freaked me out.

I agree that stories where the bad guy turns out to be good are really cool. I thought that last weekend's episode was interesting, because if you were a member of a fundamentalist snake-handling church, you would have thought it was an insulting and offensive episode, right up until the very end.

Dang.

i missed the very end. Saw where she gave birth to the snakes, tho'.

Ariana - the episode you're talking about, "Paper Hearts," is one of my absolute favorites. I actually own a copy of it. It's so incredibly moving. It makes me want to cry. Mulder's drive to find out what happened to his sister is so incredible.

And yes, I do know episode titles. Am I pathetic? Please say no.

I only know a few episode titles, mostly ones that stuck with me from reading "The Nitpicker's Guide to the X-Files".

Wait, did I say I owned that book? Forget I said that. I certainly don't own that book, and I definitely do not own "The Nitpicker's Guide to Next Generation Trek", Volumes I and II. Nope.

Lol, I know all the episode titles too! My room mate has all the episode guides, and I sometimes like to claim them as my own, they're so informative and interesting *geek laugh geek laugh*.

But I don't reffer to the episodes by their titles because they're usually very obscure (even 'Paper Hearts'.. the hearts were made of fabric!) and it's easier to just say "The one with..", lol.

And yes, I also have my own copy of 'Paper Hearts' in our vast collection of episodes, and I adore it :)
