Hi Folks.. Inquiring of peoples' opinions on the Contax RTS III as an alternative to Minolta Maxuum 9. Any thoughts? Thanks..

It's tempting to make fun of the RTS III here, but I won't. I'm sure some of its users can attest to some kind of improved film flatness. Otherwise it seems to be an overpriced competitor to the Nikon F3 or a great deal compared to the Leica R8. I looked at one and then decided my F3 wasn't worth giving up -- ever try to remove the prism on a Contax?

I'd choose the wireless flash, modern metering, and affordable lens system rather than just hope I never wanted a 300/2.8.

Don't get an RTS III. If you want a Contax, go no more expensive than an RX, it's has everything you need. The RTS III is too expensive for what it is... a manual focus camera.

The RTS III is not an alternative to the Maxxum 9. The RTS III is a manual focus camera. The Maxuum is a cutting edge autofocus camera that outperforms the RTS.

If you want a manual focus camera, go CONTAX. Autofocus? Then go with the Maxuum.
