Food Processing Plants?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Do we have any information on problems or delays at the major food processing companies? (Pillsbury, Kraft, Tyson, etc.) Deciding on a timetable to begin to use up at least some of our preps would be a lot easier if I had some insight. Your thoughts?

You should ALWAYS be using your preps. If there is a delivery problem, you just stop buying replacements. If there is a shortage, you leave what there is for your neighbors who don't maintain full pantries. If there's lots of fresh produce, go ahead and buy that as needed. But you should be constantly using your stored foods as part of your diet.

And rotating . . . We're now eating the Chunky soup that we bought in late 1998 with Best Before dates of March, 2000.

Exactly bw,

New preps in the back and constantly using
from the front. This is the long term view.
Preps should be the food that you usually
eat. And if you already make things from
scratch your preps can supply most of your
needs.

Procter & Gamble is shipping - no issues. I haven't seen any outages or cuts with our brands due to any y2k issues.
