What about the fire insurance hoax? Whose responsible?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I've been paying hundreds of dollars per year for 34 years now (far more than I spent on Y2K) and never had a fire. Out there some where is a scam artist convincing people to be prepared, shame on them.

Oh My God I'm a victim!!! I've never been a victim before, but this fire insurance hoax has possibilities...

As a victim I am now entitled to cheerfully blame everyone but myself for my problems, and push all responsibilities off on someone else.

Thanks Goldbug!!

It's not just the insurance companies that are doom-saying and profiting with their fear-mongering of so-called "fires". Other companies are cashing in on people's fear by manufacturing and selling merchandise like "fire extinguishers". City councils globally have gotten caught up in the hype and are spending tax dollars on fully-equipped "Fire Departments".

Insurance companies don't make up stories and falsehoods about certain things that might happen. The y2k hoax is a totally different scenario. All you idiot doomsayers are still trying to justify your actions, well keep on trying because none of it will wash.

Boy are you naive, I guess you've never seen an insurance company ad?

I have some Alien Invasion insurance for only $100. It will protect you and your family from being abducted by aliens. Just post your credit card number to this thread, and I'll get those policies out right away. Don't just do it for yourself, do it for your children.

After all, it's not the ODDS, it's the STAKES.
