I need to know how Edgar Allan Poe died or at least a good guess of how it happened because I cannot find it anywhere.

The last years of Poe's life were very tragic. Virginia died of tuberculosis in 1847, after five years of suffering from the illness. Poe occasionally turned to alcohol to ease his despair. He was able to control the drinking, so it didn't affect his work, despite what some critics may say. In 1849, Poe became engaged to Sarah Royster Shelton. On the way to the wedding (on Sept. 28) he stopped in Baltimore and was later found lying outsided a voting place on October 3. He died in a hospital four days later, cause of death unknown.

I read that Poe died of "congestion of the brain." Make of that what you will. But, I learned in school that he died of alcohol poisoning and a broken heart.

scientists now think he may have died of rabies because the symptons recoded that he had were the same symptoms of rabies. he could have been bitten by his cat.

It doesn't matter how he died. The greatest writer ever is gone. He probably died of a broken heart. The rabies is the best scientific explanation although poe did drink. Who knows?

I heard that when Poe's burden became to great, he teird to relieve it with alcohal, which made him ill. Since we are learning about E.A. Poe in Language Arts class i've found may different theries so another on is: He was found by a saloon and then he died 4 days later in a hospital. So hope that this helps you !!!!!!!!
