Code that generates 19100?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

I've seen, but can't find in my email pile, an example of the C/Java code that produced the "January 1, 19100" date on web pages.

Can someone post or email me a real working example of that, svp?

I have an equivalent example, but written in an early tag language called ETC (Extended Text Compose).

Hi Generally, it's not Java, but Javascript, a separate Internet scripting language. The problem has to do with the "tm_year" function and how it is programmed and displayed. Complicating the factor is that newer versions of Javascript were improved, but the fix will sometimes break old code (thus, no updates to some websites even with new code available). Further, the attempts by Netscape and IE to deal with the tm_year problem were not always compatible, meaning that at some point it might look OK in Netscape but not in IE and vice versa.
