Sailing news from Jacx , post service in P.Rico and I did not get paid

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hi all, I am working in a 200 persons factory in Prico and this week we are not going to get paid until Wed nor Thrus..We were supposed to get paid today but they had to fix the comuter due to y2k ,uor machines run on Cobol. We had got one persons that was working for a whole year to prepare but I guess they decided to wait on failure to fix it. The CEO did not know ,they were trying to cover up.Tomorrow he will not be very pleased and he will roar ( he is called Lion).

The shipments we get from Jacx which left on 12/30 have arrived in S,Juan without problems,I do not know if we are going to ship this week to Elizabeth(NJ).I guess because I did not see the traffic manager much worried. Today we shipped a Container to Toronto without apparent problems. It went to the port ,was booked but we do not know if is leaving Sjuan. This month we are waiting to receive from Italy about 5 containers ,about 15 from Jacx and we are going to ship 10 a week. Also we are waiting from Italy 2 containers which have arrived already here but are without original papers because the shipping company (DOLE) had problem to figure out the correct bill of lading in Italy.

Also the USA Post Office took about ten days to deliver a letter from S.Juan to my home (about 5 miles)

This is it for today.

Thanks Alex,

Although, for those that are skeptical of first person posts, these are somewhat worthless. No link to the story, per se. I think this kind of info may turn out more valuable, in the long run, than anything we may be able to provide a link for.

As always, only time will tell.

One thing I can be sure of, it it's out there, someone here will let us know. Now we know why I am here, at least. :-)

Alex - don't put a less than or greater than symbol in your post - it will get confused.

Alex, thank you for this bit of information.

I would suspect that this type of problem(s) is/are going on in many, many locations. We'll never read about them in newspapers or see/hear of them on television.

Thanks for relating your observations, Alex. Let us know more about those containers when you can.

Hey, Alex, I wonder how many of us would have the nerve to post to the Forum if it were written in German or Chinese? Shouts to you for coming in and giving us the benefits of your observations.

I work for a Lion too.

Alex,

Thanks for your reports!

Also, your English is much, much, much, better than my Italian.

Alex No need to apologize for your English. For many of us, your posts bring back happy memories of our own relatives who struggled to learn the language of their new land. Remember Alex, nearly all Americans trace their past to foreign countries! Keep posting, my friend. Ciao!
