Sounds like someone mixed the chemtrail stuff into the wrong tanks!

Yup -- surely *this* is the "smoking gun" we need to prove that TEOTWAWKI is HERE!!! Wait a minute..... you mean... oh, I guess you have to read the article...

"CASA has issued a new directive grounding all piston-engined planes that used fuel from Mobil's Altona refinery between November 21 and December 23."

You mean that the fuel was contaminated sometime in November of last year? Oh, darn.

We'll just have to find some *other* smoking gun to hang our hats on..... anyone got a cracker?

Thomas, November 99 is when they updated their computer systems.

This is big news, Y2K or not; but is there a link to a filing or discolosure from Mobil-Australia that would corroborate the upgrade date? I'd Love to see THAT!!!

Goodness.. I thought you were talking about something important for a minute; like 5000 commercial airliners grounded because of dud kerosene...

The contaminated fuel from Mobil appears to be as a direct result of a change in their refining process. Some of the contaminated fuel was imported into New Zealand from the affected refinery, and an Airworthyness Directive was issued on all piston engined aircraft in NZ as a result. The contaminant is a fine black material which forms a sludge in aircraft fuel systems.

Our Cessna had to fully inspected as a result, and our local fuel supply was closed before Xmas. We had to fly 40 miles away to another airfield to refuel with a different brand.

Although I can't say say with any certainty that this was not Y2K related, it would appear to be unlikely. The dates of the affected refining process coinciding with a change in the process makes it appear to be a simple case of failing to thoroughly clean a new system before it was placed in service for the first time.
