After reading several posts on TB2000 and other forums from folks that are experiencing a wide range of power fluctuations, can you explain to me what "Dirty Power" is exactly and the cause?

Our computer systems have UPS software that monitors the voltage coming from the power oulet, and we have several client locations that are tripping to battery power because of momentary spikes in voltage. We have seen some as high as 130v. Normal in our area is 116 - 120v. We are not seeing any brownouts or low voltage readings. Some of these systems have been in place for several years without problems.

What could be the cause of this and could this be considered dirty power?

Is it possible that these grid disturbances are solar related? That would explain why recent computer and UPS users have not seen these problems until now.
