'Sysman' was injured in a car accident

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hello. My name is Ted. Bruce is my room mate and he has given me instructions on how to leave a message here. He wanted to let his friends here know that he will be alright. I hope that this works. On his way home from New York on Friday evening his car was struck by a drunk driver that ran a stop sign, about five miles from home. He has a broken arm, broken ribs, several bad cuts, and internal injuries described as minor. He will be in the hospital for about a week. He is very lucky. I am a local police officer, and I see the results of drinking and driving all of the time. The accident occured in the town where I work and I was on duty at the time. This is the first time that I have had to deal with this involving a very good friend, mangled and bleeding. It has been a very difficult couple of days. Please people, do not drink and drive.

-- Sysman (Y2kboard@yahoo.com), January 09, 2000

Answers

No drinking and driving here, had 2 friends last year banged up real bad. One finally came outta the coma to start learning how to walk and everything all over again, like she is a little baby. The other may still have to have his left leg taken off. Both under 30 years old. Bruce was fortunate as far as that goes.

Tell Bruce our prayers will be with him, and you too Ted, that had to be rough! Also, tell Bruce we expect a full report on any y2k anomalies in the hospital equipment, as well as complete signed affadavits from the staff re: any equipment failures which occured prior to Bruce's arrival, including resulting interventions, heh! Oh, and uh if busses of people injured from a power plant exoplosion, or rashes from uh exposure to 4 million gallons of sewage. Yeah, that should do it...

-- Taz (Tassi123@aol.com), January 09, 2000.

Thank God it wasn't worse. Please convey our wishes for a rapid recovery, and keep us informed. Bruce, our prayers are with you and your family.

-- sober (ten@years.now), January 09, 2000.

Please tell him he is in my prayers. Thank you for posting this...I will pray for you also, it is difficult seeing a friend or loved one in pain. Best wishes.

-- Dee (T1Colt556@aol.com), January 09, 2000.

Ted -- send my best to Bruce, and do what you can to make sure that drunken bastard that hit him is prosecuted to the fullest.

And tell Bruce to line up the hungriest landshark in the state!

-- Ron Schwarz (rs@clubvb.com.delete.this), January 09, 2000.

Thanks for letting us know Ted. He was and is very lucky to have you. Please tell him how much he'll be missed and then we'll all deny we said this stuff once he gets back, OK?

-- Will continue (farming@home.com), January 09, 2000.

OK, Ted, this is very serious, here's what you are going to have to do:

You must get up at 4:00 am every morning, log on to this forum, and print out every thread from the previous day, then take them to Bruce.

Really. He's an addict, you know. Without his daily TB2000 fix he'll go into withdrawal and whither and die in only a matter of days. Forget about those broken bones and lacerations, the're nothing compared to the TB DTs.

You're a good friend, Ted. Take care of your friend. And tell him our prayers are with him. He's a lucky man, to be able to walk away from this one with his brain intact.

Gods

-- Pinkrock (aphotonboy@aol.com), January 09, 2000.

Ted,

Hello and thank you very much for letting us know about Bruce. Please tell him that we miss him and pray for a quick recovery.

Dear Ted-- Said a prayer. Sending good thoughts. Pam

-- Pam (jpjgood@penn.com), January 09, 2000.

Td, THANKS for the update. NOW, make sure YOU have taken care of YOURSELF!! Hunt up someone from the CISD team in your area (I'm SURE there is one but if you can't find them email me by clicking on the blue "rienzoo@en.com" below). You should chat with one or two of them about the situation - - caring for a friend involved in an MVA. They will be able to understand what's going on in your head now, and help you to understand.

Chuck, a CISD debriefer

-- Chuck, a night driver (rienzoo@en.com), January 09, 2000.

Ted....give Sysman our best wishes for a speedy recovery. Wish he were here to laugh at Decker's latest stupidity. Decker is the unarmed guy in a verbal duel with Michael E. Sysman is well thought of here at this forum....come back soon Sysman!!!!!

-- catfish joe (joe6pack@bottomdweller.net), January 09, 2000.

Ted,

Thank God Sysman wasn't hurt any worse than he was. Will light a candle and say a prayer for him. Be sure to pass on all the good wishes for his recovery to him.

-- Porky (Porky@in.cellblockD), January 09, 2000.

Sysman ... You are a lucky one to be getting out in a week . My wife was hit head on by guy who fled scene on Nov. 26 , and hasn't walked yet . Glad for the speedy recovery . We need you here , as the ' pollies ' actually think they are winning a few . I'll always remember that you wrote me an e-mail when I first posted in 98 , and had little knowledge of situation . Hurry back , as soon as your able. Hal Walker

-- Hal Walker (e999eagle@freewwweb.com), January 09, 2000.

Thank you Ted for letting us know. Please let Sysman know we're all praying for him and that we miss him.

Our prayers from the Left Coast are with you. Thanks Ted...

-- Uncle Bob (UNCLB0B@AOL.COM), January 09, 2000.

Thankyou Ted. Ask Sysman if it would be alright to give out an addy (address) to send a card to. How soon will he be home? He is in our prayers. He helped me get over a bad time, and I would like very much to repay the kindness. My email address is real.

Thank you in advance

Michael

PS Perhaps one of the HTML wizards here can figure out how to make a card on a site somewhere, which we could all then go to virtually, and sign. This could be printed out after a short time and given to Bruce. Huh? Just think, it may be the beta for a whole new genre. The first virtu/cyber to physcial link. We could call it cybermorphy or....cybermorphophonemics...or ??

-- Michael (mikeymac@uswest.net), January 09, 2000.

It's always the nice guys who get the shaft. I'm glad it was no worse than it was. Please tell Sysman that we are all thinking of him, and that his grumpy Unk D wishes him well.

Oh yeah, and remind him not to laugh too much, busted ribs HURT.

-- Uncle Deedah (unkeed@yahoo.com), January 09, 2000.

Ted, many thanks for letting us know!

Please let him know that "Mr. Wilferd" and I have him in our prayers and thoughts.

Add one more to the list of well-wishers...for Bruce.

I really hope the drunk driver is in worse condition, but somehow it never turns out that way.

-- PNG (png@gol.com), January 09, 2000.

Thank you, Ted, for helping Bruce/Sysman. Please tell him that I am thinking about him and wish him well soon.

And I really don't pray very much at all, as my vision of God is very abstract, but I will say a special one just for him, right now.

-- eve (123@4567.com), January 09, 2000.

Please add my prayers and good wishes to all of the above. It is amazing how much I have come to care about all you people. I am also a member of MAD (mothers against driving drunk) This really hurts.

TED: Thank you for the info. Sysman hope you have a speedy recovery. HAL: Hope your wife has a speedy recovery too!

Both will be in our prayers...

Ted, yes, please let us know where we can send get-well cards. Is it possible you can rent Bruce a notebook computer? It would allow him to get and stay on-line much faster. We really miss him. Please tell him Old Git, Sweetie and the cats send our very best for a speedy recovery.

-- Old Git (anon@spamproblems.com), January 09, 2000.

Prayers and love and healing flowing to Sysman.

Too weird that he had a bad "rollover" involving a drunk driver (inside TB2K running joke).

Ted, thank you for taking the time to inform all of us, and healing to you too. If you could print this thread and take it in to Sysman ... :-)

By the way, A & L never ever touch a drop of alcohol. Wicked brew that.

Sysman, the flu is clogging hospitals everywhere -- ask your Doctor if s/he thinks any preventive measure would (hint hint) be wise, especially with mending ribs ...

Sounds like you're gonna need a long gentle time sitting at home in warm furry comfy PJs cozy with your computer *grin* looking forward to your presence again. Maybe Ted will also discover the nutty comradery here ...

Healing Affirmation:
"I am submerged in eternal light.
It permeates every particle of my being.
I am living in that light.
The Divine Spirit fills me within and without."

-- Ashton & Leska in Cascadia (allaha@earthlink.net), January 09, 2000.

Thanks Ted. Best wishes Sysman! And now for all of us:

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Jack took a long look at his speedometer before slowing down: 73 in a 55 zone. Fourth time in as many months. How could a guy get caught so often? When his car had slowed to 10 miles an hour, Jack pulled over, but only partially. Let the cop worry about the potential traffic hazard. Maybe some other car will tweak his backside with a mirror. The cop was stepping out of his car, the big pad in hand.

Bob? Bob from church? Jack sunk farther into his trench coat. This was worse than the coming ticket. A Christian cop catching a guy from his own church. A guy who happened to be a little eager to get home after a long day at the office. A guy he was about to play golf with tomorrow.

Jumping out of the car, he approached a man he saw every Sunday, a man he'd never seen in uniform.

"Hi, Bob. Fancy meeting you like this."

"Hello, Jack." No smile.

"Guess you caught me red-handed in a rush to see my wife and kids."

"Yeah, I guess."

Bob seemed uncertain. Good. "I've seen some long days at the office lately. I'm afraid I bent the rules a bit-just this once." Jack toed at a pebble on the pavement.

"Diane said something about roast beef and potatoes tonight. Know what I mean?"

"I know what you mean. I also know that you have a reputation in our precinct." Ouch. This was not going in the right direction. Time to change tactics.

"What'd you clock me at?"

"Seventy-one. Would you sit back in your car, please?"

"Now wait a minute here, Bob. I checked as soon as I saw you. I was barely nudging 65." The lie seemed to come easier with every ticket.

"Please, Jack, in the car."

Flustered, Jack hunched himself through the still-open door. Slamming it shut, he stared at the dashboard. He was in no rush to open the window. The minutes ticked by. Bob scribbled away on the pad.

Why hadn't he asked for a driver's license? Whatever the reason, it would be a month of Sundays before Jack ever sat near this cop again.

A tap on the door jerked his head to the left. There was Bob, a folded paper in hand. Jack rolled down the window a mere two inches, just enough room for Bob to pass him the slip.

"Thanks." Jack could not quite keep the sneer out of his voice. Bob returned to his car without a word. Jack watched his retreat in the mirror. Jack unfolded the sheet of paper. How much was this one going to cost? Wait a minute. What was this? Some kind of joke? Certainly not a ticket. Jack began to read:

"Dear Jack, Once upon a time I had a daughter. She was six when killed by a car. You guessed it - a speeding driver. A fine and three months in jail, and the man was free. Free to hug his daughters. All three of them. I only had one, and I'm going to have to wait until Heaven before I can ever hug her again. A thousand times I've tried to forgive that man. A thousand times I thought I had. Maybe I did, but I need to do it again. Even now. Pray for me. And be careful. My son is all I have left. Bob"

Jack turned around in time to see Bob's car pull away and head down the road. Jack watched until it disappeared. A full 15 minutes later, he, too, pulled away and drove slowly home, praying for forgiveness and hugging a surprised wife and kids when he arrived. Life is precious. Handle with care.

Ted,

How terrible that Bruce was in an accident. Hope he recovers fully, with no lasting ill-effects. Hope the drunk fries for it. Please let me know that I'm thinking of him and his family, and that he's in our prayers.

May he soon be back in the world.

-- Dennis (djolson@pressenter.com), January 09, 2000.

Thank you Ted,

As you can see, all our best wishes go flying towards Bruce. Sending healing angels and imaging him surrounded by the white light of protection and healing.

May he make a speedy recovery, return safely home, and report back in on the hospital Y2K gossip.

;-D

Much love and many blessings, to you both. And Hal Walker, the same to you and your wife.

Ted, was Sysman wearing his seat belt?

-- dinosaur (dinosaur@williams-net.com), January 09, 2000.

I'll add my wishes for a speedy recovery. And thanks, Ted, for making the effort to keep us informed.

Bruce's effort to let us know what happened--and the responses herein-- indicates just what kind of folks inhabit this forum. Y2K or not, we're all in this together.

Get well, soon, Sysman.

-- Vic (rdrunner@internetwork.net), January 09, 2000.

Hey, Ted;

Thanks for telling us about Bruce; you're a true and good friend to take the time to learn this system to do so.

Bruce, hopes and prayers for a speedy recovery! We've enjoyed your "tick tock" messages of enlightenment.

Sysman....You are missed already, sending you a big kiss and a very gentle hug. Feel better!

Ted thanks for letting us know...please keep us posted on our Sysmans recovery.

;-)

-- (karlacalif@aol.com), January 09, 2000.

Isn't it just like Sysman to send a friend here to tell us what has happened so that we wouldn't be left wondering? He has always been one of the most civil people on this forum. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Hoping for a speedy, and uneventful, recovery for a well-respected regular. Hurry home!

-- (RUOK@yesiam.com), January 09, 2000.

You were always one of the ones who seemed to work double-time, to bring us the info, Bruce, so take this as a message from god that it's time for a vacation.

You are missed. Here's to a speedy recovery.

-- Bokonon (bok0non@my-Deja.com), January 09, 2000.

Ted, thanks for letting us know about Bruce. We are sorry to hear about his injury and hope that he may recover quickly and fully. Sending healing thoughts and prayers, formerly.

See, there are more important things than Y2K. And don't worry; the hospital will work fine.

Best wishes

To Sysman's Earthly Guardian Angel, Ted:

Thanks for being there for Bruce and taking the time to let his friends here know how he is doing. In today's times, it's great he has a friend that he can realy count on.

Give Sysman a hearty hello from a fellow 'puter nerd in Texas. I hope that he recovers quickly and bounces back in no time! I am saying a special prayer for him, and for you too, Ted.

Take care of him for us and keep us posted.

Waiting for the tick tock.....

Ted

Thank you for letting us know about Sysman. My husband is a police officer too, and I can't tell you how many stories I've heard over the years...

Sysman, praying for a speedy recovery for you and a prayer for you too Ted. A pox on speeding and drunken drivers. Sysman, hope you will be back soon with your wit, humor and knowledge.

Thanks for letting us know, Ted. You take good care of yourself dear and let us know if you need anything too. Tell Bruce we love him and wish him all the best.

If you can give us an address, we would love to send him a card and maybe even some cookies! Tell him there is well over 1000+ years of baking experience waiting at his disposal. :-) Either way, give him a hug for me...but not to tight!

Hal, if you need anything, let us know. Best wishes to your wife and family.

New Jersey drivers...sheesh. ;-)

-- kritter (kritter@adelphia.net), January 09, 2000.

Ted, tell Sysman that once his ribs have healed sufficiently, we shall spare no effort in reducing him to a pathetic state of "ROTFLMAO." Laughter is said to be the best medicine.

-- David L (bumpkin@dnet.net), January 09, 2000.

Please pass my regards to Sysman. I know he's in hurting status, but I'm sure he'll start feeling better within a few days.

So remind him to keep his hands to himself while in that hospital, lest one of those cute nurses take offense and break his other arm. ;)

Thanks you, Ted. I hope Bruce recovers with no ill effects.

-- Mr. Pinochle (pinochledd@aol.com), January 09, 2000.

Add my best wishes for an uneventful and speedy recovery. And Ted, I hope the drunk driver's car is confiscated and crushed to a pancake.

-- Sally Strackbein (sally@y2kkitchen.com), January 09, 2000.

Tell Sysman I wish him a speedy recovery. And the internet jack should be located between the OXYGEN and VACUUM outlets.

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!! That's lousy!!!! Broken bones HURT!!!! We love him. He's in my prayers. If there's somewhere to send a card, let us know. Heal quickly Sysman!!!!!

-- Mara (MaraWayne@aol.com), January 09, 2000.

Thanks for the help Ted!

Please ask one of the hot little nurses to give Sysman the best 24-7 treatment, and see if they can get him into one of the rooms with a Net connection and a laptop. If his typing arm is the broken one, he's gonna need a full-time secretary!

Sysman,

Hope you get better quick bud, we're gonna need your technical expertise around here with all of these failures popping up left and right lately! Take 2 codeine and call me in the morning. :-)

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), January 09, 2000.

My best wishes as well for a complete and speedy recovery to a highly respected and (obviously) well loved cyber friend.

-- Hardliner (searcher@internet.com), January 09, 2000.

Take care, Sysman.

-- DB (tomG@h.com), January 09, 2000.

Bruce, I hope you are able to recover quickly and well. So sorry to hear that you have been injured. I also wish you well with all the less obvious stuff that goes with such an accident, the bills, the lost time, the rehab, replacing your car and so forth. It will be a long time before everything is back to "normal" for you. Never forget that you have friends.

Ted, thank you for letting us know what happened. Chuck is right, consider talking to someone in CISD. Mousie

-- Mousie (mousie@mymousehole.com), January 09, 2000.

Get well.

-- Michael Erskine (Osiris@urbanna.net), January 09, 2000.

Some hospitals don't allow personal "electronic equipment" so it does not interfear with the hospital equipment. Tell Sysman to show them who is boss and ask, beg and demand access to one of their computers that has internet access so he can at least come here for a little while. If he keeps bugging them they may let him do it. It worked for me last year when I was stuck in the hospital for a week. I'll bet he is checking all of the "tags" on the equipment to see if they had been labeled Y2K compliant. Tell him to be good to himself and take his time getting back up to speed. Which arm is broken, his writing arm? :o(

I hope he has a complete recovery.

Could you at least post which hospital he is in? We could send e-mails through them to him. If they get enough maybe they will let him use one of their computers *evil grin*

Cherri

-- Cherri (sams@brigadoon.com), January 09, 2000.

If you were a true friend you'd take him a laptop with a modem, so he could keep in touch from his bed!

Just kidding of course. Get well soon Sysman! Thanks Ted!

-- Lisa (lisadawn@yahoo.com), January 09, 2000.

Bruce,

I cried this morning when I first read this post, and I didn't respond because I thought I would be deleted. Well, since Y2K Pro is still here, I'm going to give it a shot.

I'm having a terribly hard time writing this letter because my best friend was killed by a drunk driver a few years back, and now the pain is flooding back. Her name was Andrea (Dee Dee) Koffman, and I miss her desperately.

Her killer only got two years.

Sysman, you stood up for me once, and I've always appreciated that. I wish I could return the favor and help you now. It's frustrating having cyber-connections because you can't hold someone's hand when you want to offer comfort, so suffice it to say, I hope you get well soon.

So sorry to hear this, Ted! Give Bruce our love and prayers!

-- Sheri (wncy2k@nccn.net), January 09, 2000.

Ted, I can certainly sympathize! My grandmother was killed by a drunk driver before I was ever born. A senseless tragedy that could have been prevented! Thanks for letting us know...

Sysman, I'm sending up prayers on your behalf. We'll all be smiling when we see your familiar tag line again. Take care of yourself!

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), January 09, 2000.

Thank you for the heads-up, Ted. I'm sure your presence at the scene made things much easier for Bruce.

Bruce, many prayers & loving/healing vibrations are going out to you today. Tune in to your cyber-family. Modem not required.

And if you are so disposed, try the healing affirmation A&L posted above. It's pure dynamite!

Can I have your jell-o?

Hey Sysman, here's to a rapid and glitch-free recovery. May you and your trademark sign-off be back here soon!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I'm about the last well-wisher here, but hey, it still counts doesn't it? Ted, you are a good man to care about your friend. Be sure to bookmark this thread on his machine so that he can read all of our sweet notes when he gets home.

Sysman, the board will be fine without you, but it won't be the same. I hope you are breathing easier very soon.

Sysman,

Count me in as one pulling hard for your speedy recovery.

I wish you any and all extravagances of the mind that may help you abide the time as you repair. Nonetheless, I can sure understand any acute displeasure you may have at the impertinence of this interruption.

My prayers are with ya, Sysguy. (And, not to brag, but I got some mighty cool angels.)

-- (resolved@this.point), January 09, 2000.

Ted,
Thank you for taking time to share with us, I will keep both of you
in my prayers.

-- Possible Impact (posim@hotmail.com), January 09, 2000.

I need to contribute my best wishes as well. I'm just so thankful, for the sake of Sysman and everyone else, that the hospitals' "toast" condition Ashton and Leska promised us so ardently didn't come to pass. Of course, A&L have remained utterly silent on this topic since rollover, an irony I know Sysman would appreciate, and might cheer him up a bit. As we all know, things could have been much worse for him in many ways. I wish Sysman a speedy and painless recovery.

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), January 09, 2000.

Sysman --

Get your sweet "tick tock" back here ASAP.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

-- Lurkess (Lurkess@Lurking.Net), January 09, 2000.

Flint, you just haven't read enough threads. What we said was that if the equipment stopped working, the hospitals would be Toast. Still true. We ennumerated the reasons extensively to you on several threads a long time ago. But your memory apparently is short-circuited :-) Our abundant THANKFULNESS at the LESS THAN A BITR for which we ardently PRAYED on many a thread FROM THE VERY BEGINNING is still running at 1008%, even enough to wish you a Happy New Year !!!!!!

Guess somebody (Flint again per usual) had to start sourness so Sysman wouldn't bust the rest of his ribs LOL or ROTF ;^)

-- Ashton & Leska in Cascadia (allaha@earthlink.net), January 09, 2000.

A&L:

I sincerely share your thankfulness. The question was never *if*, the question was always *whether*. The answer, to Sysman's great benefit, turns out to be no. For which I am very very glad.

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), January 09, 2000.

OK Sysman. We Aussies know when a bloke's just taking a monday- morning "sickie", but I guess this isn't one of those times, eh? GET WELL SOON. I'll chug a tube of Fourex for ya. God Bless! (Dave in Sydney.)

-- David Harvey (vk2dmh@hotmail.com), January 09, 2000.

Hi Sysman,

Sure am glad the you are OK. Thank goodness the hospitals are up and running.

Tick Tock :)

-- (I'm@pol.ly), January 09, 2000.

Sysman,

GET WELL FAST!

-- BiGG (supersite@antigopro.net), January 09, 2000.

We are all pulling for you Bruce. I will include you in my prayers.

-- ExCop (Yinadral@hotmail.com), January 09, 2000.

Late checking in but Sysman, get well and back soon!

We will label funny threads as such: I've had broken ribs before and laughing is such sweet unbearable pain, ouch! . Just skip 'em!

Lotsa calcium, vitamin C, and hot soaks.

Love ya, buddy........

-- lisa (lisa@work.now), January 09, 2000.

I was sadden to hear about your accident , Bruce/Sysman. I know through our prayers that you'll better very soon. Talk about the unexpected! I stopped drinking long ago and I haven't missed it. It's the nation real drug problem by a long shot. GET WELL!

Paul Christy

-- PJC (paulchri@msn.com), January 09, 2000.

Hi Sysman, please get well...we miss you and need you on the yahoo message board as well.

Thanks Ted for letting us know about the accident. :o)

It would be great to let someone else know that when we are incapacitated and can't post to let the board know (like Sysman did).

-- eubie (eubie@onemadmother.com), January 09, 2000.

Ted:

I don't recall who sysman is, although I must have read his posts, but regardless my prayers are with him and hope he has a full recocovery soon.

-- Interested Spectator (is@the_ring.side), January 09, 2000.

I'm adding a category to my new board for Sysman and everyone else who posted above.

Why? Because the above posts represent the "blessings" the Internet has to offer, amid all of its "dark-side" menus.

Despite all the "wrangling" that has occurred during the past two years on this forum, this is a moment of bright, shining joy.

Well, maybe not for Sysman, at least not yet.

Here's hoping, however, that he's well enough to start "slapping" nurses in the IMMEDIATE days ahead and that someone brings him a laptop as soon as he is well enough to start typing with his one "good" arm.

In the meantime, Ted, my email address is--and has always--been real.

I wish you as many blessings as God has time for. Somehow, I am of the belief that he might make room for you.

:)

P.S. I think I will title this new category, "Old Friends from the Y2k Underground--Where are they Now?" Seems to fit for now, at least.

Blessings.

-- FM (vidprof@aol.com), January 09, 2000.

'Tis done.

Should anyone wish to post "Sysman's" bio, you may do so here. (Here, too, you may also post details of his first "nurse-slapping" incident. Let us hope it occurs soon.)

Old Friends from the 'Y2k Underground' -- Where are They Now?

In the meantime, best wishes to you, my friend.

:)

-- FM (vidprof@aol.com), January 09, 2000.

Just checking in late Sunday night. Bummer, Sysman. Lots of people praying for you. Ted, keep us posted. Thanks.

-- Thinman (thinman38@hotmail.com), January 09, 2000.

Ted & Sysman,

Thanks from me, also, Ted, for letting us know about Sysman. Blessings and healing to both of you. Hoping to see that unique 'sig' soon again.

Virlie

-- Virlie (MstMtnRain@aol.com), January 09, 2000.

Ted,

Regards to Sysman/Bruce and wishes for a speedy recovery.

And all the worst to the scumbag who hurt him.

-- Morgan (morgan96@netscape.net), January 09, 2000.

Thanks so much Ted. You are a friend indeed.Praying for you, Sysman.Getwell and get back soon.

Joy

-- Joy (Tryon1ja@cmich.edu), January 09, 2000.

Sorry so late, Sysman, this is awful news indeed. Here's hoping for a full and speedy recovery. Get well soon. Wish I could send you some of my prep tomatoes for crockpot soup... I have so much extra :>)

-- homecanner (tomatoes@mygarden.com), January 09, 2000.

Sysman, my prayers are with you - may your healing progress smoothly and more quickly than expected!

Hal/Eagle, my heart goes out to you. I'll keep praying for your wife, you and your family.

-- Tricia the Canuck (jayles@telusplanet.net), January 10, 2000.

Sysman... I have been a daily lurker for 2 years... Have regularly read your posts... I, too, want to send heartfelt wishes for your speedy and complete recovery!

-- Suzanne (suzanneL@webtv.net), January 10, 2000.

Sysman,

Please get well soon. Your extended family wishes you a speedy recovery!

Grace

-- Grace (grace17@pacbell.net), January 10, 2000.

Sysman, if you've managed to read this far into the thread, you're well on you way to recovery. Stamina is doing well, at least. Put an update on this thread when you're able, otherwise we'll be well- wishing you into '01. ;-) Sorry to hear about it, glad it wasn't any worse....

-- Harl (harlanquin@aol.hell), January 10, 2000.

Bruce, get well soon... we need you here to help this forum from degenerating into the polly/doomer wars any further. And Ted, you are indeed a good friend. Could we ask you to perform yet another act of friendship?... Drive Bruce home from the hospital after they've kicked him out for hacking their computers. He'll be in serious withdrawal about then and they won't understand.

Keith and Sara send warm rays of healing sunshine from the Big Island of Hawaii.

-- Keith Nealy (keithn@aloha.net), January 10, 2000.

Oh, Sysman! I'm so sorry to learn of your accident! I'm adding my energy to the well-wishes here, and will keep you and your family in my heart as you move toward full recovery. Thanks for thinking of us, your TB family, and to Ted for being your messenger. We love you, you know.

-- Faith Weaver (suzsolutions@yahoo.com), January 10, 2000.

I have been out of town all weekend, just turned on the computer. I hope you get to feeling better Sysman, and I hope the guy who hit you had some insurance. Some drunk rammed my wife while she was sitting at a redlight in September, whiplashed her pretty good and did moderate damage to her Lesabre. He didn't have an ounce of insurance, and fled the scene. When they caught him and ran his record it was his third hit and run in two years, and his liscence was suspended. The cops threw him in jail and will squeeze a pound of flesh out of him, but I was left with the deductible, medical, and lost time fooling with it, and wife was in misery for two weeks.

-- Nikoli Krushev (doomsday@y2000.com), January 10, 2000.

First, you tell Sysman you have good news for him and he should prepare himself so he doesn't try to dance with joy. (Hold him down anyway.) Second, you say, "Decker and Hoffmeister left the board." When you get an address for us to send cards, please post it on a new thread so we'll all see it. This thread is getting long -- ain't it great?

-- Get (well@soon.guy), January 10, 2000.

Sure hope the Ol' Hippie is OK!!!

Keeping Sysman in my prayers.....

Deano

-- Deano (deano@luvthebeach.com), January 10, 2000.

What can I possibly add to this thread?? :-D

*May your recovery be speedy.

*May your pain meds be ample.

*May your Doctors/Nurses be competent, cool, and cute. ;-)

Get well soon!

-- Deborah (infowars@yahoo.com), January 10, 2000.

Bruce, Maybe you could send a copy of this thread to Sysman from all his friends here, for he has many, even among us "pollies". Best wishes to you Sysman, I know you'll be back as soon as you can!

Regards,

-- FactFinder (FactFinder@bzn.com), January 10, 2000.

Have said prayers for a very speedy recovery SYSMAN. Truly hope you'll be back at the keyboard soon.

Sysman! Arnica for bruises! Take very good care of yourself. Thinking of you,

-- silver ion (ag3@interlog.com), January 10, 2000.

Thank you Ted You sound like a good friend. Please give Sysman our regards and wishes for a speedy recovery. PA Engineer and GI Doc.

-- PA Engineer (PA Engineer@longtimelurker.com), January 10, 2000.

Sysman! Hope you heal up quick - good thing the hospital's up-and-running!

-- Think It (Through@Pollies.Duh), January 10, 2000.

So sorry to hear about your accident, Sysman! Glad you made it out alive with only broken bones, but broken bones HURT! So Sysman, if you ever get this message in time; make sure you do ask those cute but busy nurses for pain meds when the last dose starts to wear off. Pain-free patients recover faster (helps keep spirits and courage up!)

Thanks Ted for letting us know. I haven't seen you post again on this thread, but if you're still reading this, perhaps you could also print this thread to bring it to Sysman to read?

-- Chris (catsy@xxx.com), January 10, 2000.

So sorry Sysman,

Best wishes for a speedy recovery {including any settlements!}.

-- flora (***@__._), January 10, 2000.

Tnx, Ted, for the progress report. Hello to Sysman, and Get Well Soon!

Bill

-- William J. Schenker, MD (wjs@linkfast.net), January 10, 2000.

There is a bright spot here!!

At least you don't have the flu!!!!

Seriously, man, I wish you a speedy recovery - Take each and every pill they give you. Heck, ask them for some they haven't given you! And those Demerol butt-shots are excellent, too!! If you get one of those cool timed dosage IV drips, punch that baby as often as you can - it's like a gumball machine, sometimes you get two! Take it from me, a VERY poor skier... *-}

-- Ric (ice163@worldnet.att.net), January 10, 2000.

Sysman...

.....I have a six-foot hypodermic and a pill that weighs 600 pounds; don't make me use these! Get well!

-- Patrick (pmchenry@gradall.com), January 11, 2000.

Please give Bruce my best wishes . . . Cin =0)

From: Y2K, ` la Carte by Dancr (pic), near Monterey, California

Ted: In case it's not obvious to you (no offense, 3-4 other posters on this thread made this mistake), do not post a physical address on a public forum such as this one. It's just not safe.

Please, take Bruce some vitamin C, to help in warding off any illness that may be lurking in that hospital. Also, please, help him to get out of there as soon as possible. Take it from someone who knows... a hospital is not a cool place to be.

Sysman, you probably don't know me, but I know you. Please, hurry back. We need all the bright minds we can muster to help connect the dots. Don't know how I missed theis thread the first time through.

-- Dancr (addy.available@my.webpage), January 11, 2000.

Ted:

Ask Sysman if I can have his job now. [Huh? Not supposed to make him laugh?] Never mind that one, Ted. Just wish him the best for a speedy recovery.

What's all this about a typing hand? Are my hands too small? Why do I need two hands when others only need one?

-- Anita (notgiving@anymore.com), January 11, 2000.

Sysman, take care and get well soon.

-- Homer Beanfang (Bats@inBellfry.com), January 11, 2000.

Hope all systems are up and running real soon.

-- thinkIcan (thinkIcan@make.it), January 11, 2000.

Ted: I've been away for a while and just read your post. I hope Sysman will recover soon and continue contributing to this forum. And please, please get those drunk drivers off the road and in jail for a looooong time. I've been hit twice by drunk drivers and one of them who was uninsured was released on bail and then disappeared. Get well soon, Sysman.

-- Sandy (sandy@wait&see.com), January 11, 2000.

Bruce (It's weird calling you that. Sort of like "unmasking" Batman!),

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

Roland

-- Roland (nottelling@nowhere.com), January 11, 2000.

I will pray for a fast recovery.

-- Smokey (Smokey1057@roman.net), January 11, 2000.

Hi Sysman, you nasty old dog! I've just learned about your Bump in the Road so that's the reason why it took me so long to touch base with you. But knowing how tough skinned you are old man we all know that you'll get over it real soon!

Best regards for you Sysman from all of us here in Latin America. (You wouldn't know how popular you are around this part of the world Bruce!)

You've been truly positively instrumental Ted. Thanks guy!

Take care

-- George (jvilches@sminter.com.ar), January 11, 2000.

Sysman;

I informed the elders of our tribe of your accident, and a special Native American Cedar Healing Ceremony will be held in your honor this Wednesday night. Further, members of my congregation will holding a prayer vigil meeting at the same time.

On behalf of my tribe, family, and friends here on the Wind River Indian Reservation; please accept our prayers for a quick and complete recovery.

Dr. Rev. Michael ThunderLight

-- hiding in plain (sight@edge of.nowhere), January 11, 2000.

Hey Sysman! get well soon... I recently was mugged in Denver, coupla low lifes jumped me, got away with $300 and I got away relatively lightly, just some stitches and a loose tooth. It really could have been much worse - I was unconscious and lying in snow. Luckily I came around and got some help - of course if things went another way these guys would be murderers. These types of incidents just serve to make you stronger, it's all a learning experience - just thank God you still have your health and your friends (just look at this thread!) and will quickly bounce back. Best, Andy.

-- Andy (2000EOD@prodigy.net), January 11, 2000.

Sysman Y2K Warrior,

Heal quickly, get well, be strong.

Sending peace and prayers and comfort to you now...

-- Mabel (mabel_louise@yahoo.com), January 11, 2000.

Glad you are going to be OK Sysman. You've been a solid citizen here. Hurry back. My prayers are with you. "A merry heart does good like a medicine."

And Andy, Glad you're ok as well.

-- BB (peace2u@bellatlantic.net), January 12, 2000.

Sorry to learn of this, sorry to be so late in offering my condolences and prayers.

It seems like every one of us has lost a loved one or friend to the evil that comes to life when an alcohol-soaked brain vessel gets behind the wheel.

I know it's cold comfort, but thank God it wasn't worse. Bones and boo-boos will mend, with the grace of God.

Thanks for the message Ted. Hang tough, he'll be home before you know it, and you'll have to be his step-n-fetchit! ;)

-- Arewyn (artemis31@email.msn.com), January 12, 2000.

Best of Luck dude...Hope all works out for you. Hope you are feeling better. (Hope the Drunk gets a stiff sentence too!)

-- Billy Boy (Rakkasan101st@Aol.com), January 12, 2000.

We hope you feel better soon.
