I was asleep - Has the de-evolutionary spiral begun?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

How about UN troops in the streets?

Concentration camps for GIs?

Martial law?

Did Klinton announce his third term?

What were those new highway signs for?

Are millions of pollies dead yet?

Anyone come to your door begging for food?

Is there any toilet paper left in the stores?

Did the herd turn?

Does your family look at you with new found respect and admiration?

When did the stock market crash?

Is gold at $1,000 an ounce yet?

Have the people of the northern cities frozen to death yet?

Anoyone have a chance to shoot a minorit..er,...poll...er, intruder?

And of course, what about those chemtrails?

I've shot several, mostly women and children. You'd be surprised at how slow they move.

I believe these events have been postponed until end-of-quarter. Go back to sleep.

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), January 08, 2000.

No, thankfully.

We are in a much more likely scenario, foggy, things are happening, but we won't know for weeks or months what, if anything is going on.....

Watch for the economy slowing, annoying problems. May they all stay small and annoying only.

In case anyone cares (UNLIKELY), I will hold with my timeframe of relaxing on 4-01-2000, and calling "all clear" on 07-01-2000, if there are no serious problems.

Yes it has, just look at your arms and knuckles.

Doomers are the greatest laughingstock of this nation for the entire 20th century. How humiliated they must feel.

-- Mike Mowry (mjmowry@aol.com), January 08, 2000.

It's not time to get up yet. Go back to sleep.

And remember to...

...hit the...

The greatest evidence of devolution I have seen thus far is on this board. But I have confidence that the spiral will turn upward yet again.

As for my view of our current status, I remain cautiously jubilant and agree completely with mushroom.

No chemtrails, but I found a mysterious rut-like track at the edge of my front yard this morning. Do you think that's anything?

-- eve (123@4567.com), January 08, 2000.

Hello, paging... Mike Mowry...

Mike, you're probably right about one thing for sure...

Our economy and power systems are doing better than some of the posters on this and other forums expected, *at this point*.

However, if you consider that we don't have enough details yet on the level of success the remediation efforts are actually having, to this date. And on the subject of useful details, for instance, if you have some decent inside information to help everybody feel a little bit more confident, then by all means share it (a big hint with a big grin even would be nice for a Saturday morning).

There seem to be a lot of unanswered questions out there. Right now systems are populating files with something. Wouldn't it be nice to know that it's correct data. But then how would we or even the companies who use those files, yet fully know the results of their y2k work (with some exceptions).

If you are premature in your evaluation and wrong in your conclusion, then your statement would be in error.

Then it should read:

"Pollies are the greatest laughingstock of this nation for the entire 21st century. How humiliated they must feel."

Try to be patient. Take a deep breath. Exhale slowly.

Ask yourself, what industries do we really know about fully, at this time? If you can offer some concrete information, then start a thread and share it, please. I'm serious, share your reasons for such optimism.

-- snooze button (alarmclock_2000@yahoo.com), January 08, 2000.

Snoozer,

We really don't know squat about industry yet! And I don't believe we ever will. Do you actually think that if General Motors stopped production because of the supply chain going bonkers, that they would actually blame it on Y2K? I don't think so.

I'm giving this three months to play out... then I'm gonna hit the snooze button.

Recovering doomer.

-- (I'm@pol.ly), January 08, 2000.

I hear you, Recovering Doomer, everything must come to an end.

I do like your 3 months idea. Maybe by then if there is going to be a "masterblaster" problem erupt it will be more obvious.

Several aspects of y2k trouble me though. Others have already verbalized these well. It seems we have an algebra problem in which both sides of the equation are not equal. Something is missing, don't know what, maybe soon we will get some hints.

What Flint said. (I can't believe I'm agreeing with Flint!)

-- Mara (MaraWayne@aol.com), January 08, 2000.

Mara, Flint

I'm not sure what you mean by "these events have been postponed til the end-of-quarter". Do you think TEOTWAWKI has been postponed for a quarter or are you being sarcastic? I see know reason for sarcasm--prudence required some level of preps. Neither do I see any reason for pessimism--I'll keep my preps for several months, why not, and then give the excess away. Things are looking pretty good to me. Arn't warm showers on demand the greatest?

-- Lars (lars@indy.net), January 08, 2000.

I doubt if you were ever really awake but it won't matter anyway - you're blind and deaf. Go chew some ice!

-- realist (pollies@home.undercover), January 08, 2000.

Remember this, he who laughs last, laughs the loudest. The laughter should be starting about this time next year. We will see then who is laughing, polly or doomer.

Go Get em:

ROTFLMAO!

"Their rotting corpses are an effective deterrent to "visitors"
