OT/Not so sure of the intelligence of 'News'...

Didn't know exactly how to title this...I watched the evening news starting and ending with local news and then a 'News' show...20/20, 48hrs...one of those....

Local news...show a warm-fuzzy story about all the peeps washing their cars because of the warm weather here in Iowa..you know...salt/snow=rust. No snow/salt, still= rust. Showed a pretty young girl at the wash gave her name as they chatted up all giggles and smiles...THEN they panned past her car-showed the make/model and LICENSE plate number...Hmmm...that's a bit scary if you think on it....

Evening News...Dan Rather..one of the stories about 'Cyberterrorism' and they gave all this info about unprotected sytems and Klinton spending habits...kind of left the doors wide open to any lamer or non-lamer to start playing around...

20/20, 48hrs or whatever...whole segment on groups that ripoff stores going in and distracting the cashiers and managment so they could rob the safe in under 1 minute. How they do that you ask? Well, this 'News' show TOLD us....If you missed it, I'm not giving details...but it was one of those things that someone might hear and go 'Hmmmm...I can do THAT...'

With this kind of reporting...I'm wondering if the 'Liberal Media' really knows what the hell they are doing when the 'report' anti-gun and 'anti-prepardness' clips.....something to consider.

Santana:

Same thing happens up here in Canada.

I don't think is a conspiracy (I hope decker and flint read that..!) but I DO think it's a serious problem, and a symptom of the larger ills of modern society.

The investigative journalist is almost--not quite--extinct. The rest of 'em are BRAIN DEAD, or BIASED, or POLITICAL LAP-DOGS, or just plain too submissive to management. Perhaps a pleasant mixture of more than one eh?

It's a good idea to question motives, question "facts" and generally think for ourselves.

BUT HERE'S THE PROBLEM:

Outside of specialized education, where can you find teachers actually teaching their students how to think? To memorize, yes. To regurgitate information on demand, yes. But to THINK? No.

If that don't change, we will lose our ability to tell right from wrong. Good from bad. Healthy from dangerous...

OOPS...we're there right now.

They're trained to push buttons with pictures of hamburgers on them.

Industry has given up, tossed in the towel. They now hire idiots, in the full knowledge that they're hiring idiots.

"Customer Service" positions are staffed by bright-eyed little morons in suits with a mile of self-esteem, an inch of brainpower, and monumental egos as robust as a sidewalk paved in eggshells.

The ONLY thing they're capable of doing -- besides grooming themselves incessantly -- is reading off a script, and getting snotty when none of their scripted "answers" match the problem *their* product or service is causing *you*.
