OT, Is your PHONE TAPPED?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

This is cool call this FEMAnumber before it is changed.

1-(770) 988-9664

Its for spies to check if their line is secure. I called, it works. When you call, you will hear first:

Your Area code and number

Followed by the number 8

Then 9 zeros (000000000)

Then one final number, if a 1 or a 2 then your line is secure

...anything besides 1 or 2, you are bugged!

Also, if you frequently hear one ring when you hang up, you may be tapped. This kinda tap according to this radio show I'm listening to can be inactivated by going out to the phone box on your house, unplugging it for 5 minutes, then plugging it back in.

But what's to say that if you call it and "they" find out about it, that you won't be bugged in the near future? I'll bet that there is a heckuva caller ID on that number. ;)

I'd call this number, except that by doing so I'd alert the fuzz to the fact that I was on to them.

I tried it anyway, as I have nothing to hide (ahem) and I got a RNA. So, did they shut it down due to the publicity? Or was it never real? Only The Shadow knows . . .

Goofy stuff, huh?

No, it did work as described when I dialed.

What'd you get,

Do you know why *FEMA* would have a number for *spies* to call? I think a drunk hit a power pole somewhere on this one.

Disbelievingly,

Frank

Why would a government agency NOT have a like that could do this... If they didn't have it and the technology was available, it would be irresponsible of them.
